Opera won't update from "About Opera" menu selection

I have Opera installed on my 32-bit Vista laptop. I see the new version was released a couple of days ago yet when I use the Menu/About Opera it checks for updates but returns this message:
'Version: 36.0.2130.32 - Opera is up to date"
New version is 36.0.2130.46
Why is the new version not available to my system?

It may take a while for a new build to be available through autoupdate for all users.
You can download an run the installer if you don't want to wait.

Probably because newer versions of Chromium don't support Vista ...

But isn't Vista still supported in O36? If so, i guess Vista users should get the update.

Yes, my understanding is that Opera 36 is still supported on Vista (and XP), it's only 37 and above that won't be.
Opera have said that they will continue to supply security fixes to 36 even after 37+ becomes the current version, for those still using XP and Vista, although how long that will last isn't specified.

Well, I just downloaded the new version installer and it installed the new version, no problem on Vista.
Just interesting why the "About Opera" option would not work..

Same here!
I installed the new version as standalone into a different folder so as to keep my existing 36.0.2130.32 install intact, and it installed and ran fine on XP, so it is still compatible.
I've asked on the developer blog about why the automatic updating isn't working, no response as yet.
