      Hello All,

I just updated to Opera 36.

What a BAD surprise, the speed dial search bar is no more there!

In fact, I have a hundred of speed dial links, so, I need this search bar.

      Thank you for help.

You can search them using the address bar.

You can search them using the address bar.

          Which address bar???

          There are 2 bars:

          1 - URL address bar

          2 - Search engine bar

You cannot search speed dial links both of them.

There is a COMPLICATED solution (non easy) this is to go under Bookmarks page to find a Search Bar with which you can search Speed Dial links.

Please, somebody can put back this Speed Dial search bar under Speed Dial page?

          Thank you so much.

              Thank you Leocg,

This is not as easy as than a real search bar.

Is there a solution to shorten URL for Speed Dial Links like with Opera =< 12.17?

For example a Speed Dial link:

              DomainFirst.com

              Its short link:

              df

You just need to type: "df" and press the "Enter" key to go to DomainFirst.com

              Thank you for help.

Your solution does not work for me. The address bar searches websites, not what is in the Speed Dial. Why?

There may be something wrong with your Opera profile. Check if it works in a standalone installation.

Please, FOR A FASTER WORKING, let bring back us the old good Speed Dial functionalities:

1 - Speed Dial Search Bar

2 - Short link Speed Dial URL

                      Thank you!

Am not given the option to install standalone. Don't want to lose my Speed Dial links either. So what is the solution?

You need to change the installation path.

The installer can see how an existing version of Opera was installed, and will not let you change the install type. So you need to install to a different folder. Something like C:\Opera will do fine. Once you've changed the install path, you'll be able to change the install type as well.

In my own test, Opera did list speed dial results in the dropdown - and they even had a little speed dial icon next to them. But I only saw one when I should have seen more, so it doesn't seem to be very good. (That was using the Developer version.)

As far as I can tell, the address bar dropdown seems to list speed dial results mixed in with results from bookmarks and history and whatever else it searches, and there doesn't seem to be a way of controlling just what it lists.

I found a solution, like in the old good Opera.

Its name is the new Vivaldi browser with which you can do any shortcuts name for each of your bookmarks.

For example, to go to Facebook, bookmark your Facebook page, and ask for a shortcut name (for example "fb"). If you want to go back to this page later, no need to go through many cascading menus and find its icon and click on it with your mouse: Open a new tab, and type "fb" into URL address bar. That's it, you're in your Facebook page.

Every Chrome native extensions runs on Vivaldi.

You can import your Opera 12, and Opera 15+ bookmarks, Speed Dial and passwords in one click.

I just closed Opera, imported everything into Vivaldi (even history).

Opera is uninstalled now, what I used for 16 years.

Just for some shortcuts names who save me a ton of time every day.
