When I select it, nothing in the address field is highlighted, everything in the address field remains greyed out.

Thanks for your advice. Changing the Windows theme to one of the Windows Default theme brings back the Address box.
Opera 30.0.1835.88 is incompatible (Address box greyed out) with all of the Windows High Contrast themes and also the Custom variation of the Windows High Contrast theme that I use.
Previous versions of Opera did not have problems with the Custom variation of the Windows High Contrast theme that I use (I have been using Opera for years).
I hope the Opera team will correct this problem.

I am running Windows 10 and was having this same issue and the problem was and still is present on Windows 7. I have yet to test out the solution on Windows 7 but changing the theme to Windows 10 theme worked to bring back the info in the address bar. After that, I just tweaked the colors and adjustments to my liking and I now have a address that I can see.
I am glad I found this thread

IMy O.S is vista and I was using a high contrast theme and I had the exact problem. It wasn't really grey but blank. I switched to windows classic default theme and changed the fonts in opera settings to any one starting with MS which are microsoft. I changed fonts before I changed themes so that might not have had anything to do with it but I had to include every step I took to fix it in case it was part of the problem.

Thanks leocg for the information, the problem has been solved in Opera 33.0.1990.58.
I was not aware of this update since in Opera 32.0.1948.69, the "About Opera" kept indicating that "Opera is up to date".
