Upgrading Opera 12 to Opera 32 - Transitioning Smoothly (Windows 8)

Creating this thread since I'm sure to be asking questions eventually, but so far, so good. Biggest headache so far is finding a way to import my sessions file, but it looks like there may be an extension for that
and of course bookmarks, but this thread was helpful
"Upgrading Opera 12 to 32: organizing imported bookmarks" (Opera Forums)

Sessions as such are no more. There are extensions and workarounds discussed in this thread: https://forums.opera.com/topic/10481/can-t-find-save-session-option. There I noted that I imported my sessions from v. 12 along with bookmarks. They came in OK as folders, which could then be dragged to the Sessions folder that I created.

Yeah, that's my experience too. I didn't find much of a learning curve in moving from Opera 12.16 to 32, except in figuring out bookmarks and the Speed Dial. It was more a matter of learning what isn't there anymore. I'm not big on extensions; I prefer a browser that just works. And it does work, in fact works much better than v. 12 WRT loading and displaying many sites that v. 12 could no longer handle. I also like the fact that you can now copy HTML to the clipboard, unlike v. 12.16. (I don't know when in the development process that capability was added, but it had long been desired.)

Just upgraded from Opera 12 to 32 and i have a couple question.
How can i access Preference Editor? I would like to disable Speed Dial and get clean and empty tab instead.
Because now if i want to copy paste link, ill get 'go back' arrow. I dont want to have a browsing history when i paste links. I can paste links and make bookmarks and then open bookmark in the new tab without browsing history, but that is stupid way to do it.And then those favorites. Now they all are at the same list instead of multiple pages. How can i change that view?

Settings. Either Alt +P or from the menu.

Gotta use an extension for that.
And then those favorites.
You mean bookmarks?

Ok
You mean bookmarks?
Yes
Also, i cant find how i can customize my Toolbars or how i can Show Menu Bar instead of Opera logo.
And if i click link in bookmark bar, how to make it open in the new tab as a default?
That is the problem with Settings, i cant find any setting from there anymore There are 'show advanced settings', but that doesent do much... I feel like handicapped with this version^^I tested this newer Opera, it was Opera 15 i think, and i did have a same problem with that. This is Opera 32, but it doesent seems to developed after that. Or i have just missed something.

Not a feature in the current version.
how to make it open in the new tab as a default
You'll have to middle click it. Or scroll wheel click it if that is what your mouse has. You can also hold a keyboard key (Ctrl) to do it.

Opera tried the super customizable route for many years and it got them basically no market share and it was difficult to maintain. The new version is trying a different approach. One of the major reasons they abandoned the older rendering engine was because of the difficulty in maintaining it. Coupled with the fact that the older interface was basically inseparable from the older renderer it meant they had to start from scratch. So they decided to make a cleaner, simpler browser. If you want something closer to the old Opera from an interface perspective give Vivaldi a try. Or you could just keep using Opera 12. There are a few diehards still sticking with it.

Ok, that wil explain alot. Still, i want to have a full control of my browser. I like to customize it. Now i cant even move stuff in toolbar.
What about HTML5 support? If i have a flash enabled, i cant watch HTML5 videos in Youtube. I tried to find opera://flags/#proprietary-media-types-playback but even that wont work.
Opera was most advanced and fasted browser, but now it seems to be so left behind.
Vivaldi is still alpha. Maybe im forced to use Chrome, i just dont like Google that much. -

That is not a settings Opera, or any web browser really, has control over. That is a setting you change on YouTube. YouTube picks which video it serves you and Opera simply plays it. Just change your setting on YouTube.
Note that Opera is currently listed as a supported web browser. Make sure all the boxes are checked (if they aren't then your OS, not Opera, is missing a codec) and that should do it. Since Opera doesn't not have built in codecs your OS has to have them installed.

Which OS? Opera supports html5 (check https://html5test.com/) but relies on the OS for media playing, so you need at least Windows 7 to play html5 videos and it can't be a N version.

I have a Opera 32.0 on Windows 7 64bit. And im using Youtube Center extension and it is set to HTML5. Still, if Flash in enabled in Plugins (have to use it because of Twitch), i get this error message in Youtube 'You browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available' and then it reload it as Flash.
If Flash is disabled, i can see HTML5 video in Youtube. -

So, any info about Twitch? And then those favorites (bookmarks)? I dont see any developer messages in this forum, is this even official forum?

This is an users' forum. Developers may read it and answer sometimes but you should not expect them to answer every topic.
Oh, then how i can contact them? I cant find any contact information from here

You can't, Opera doesn't offer individual support.
So, any info about Twitch?
Last time i've checked the site it was working fine.
What is the ussue with the page?
And im using Youtube Center extension and it is set to HTML5. Still, if Flash in enabled in Plugins (have to use it because of Twitch), i get this error message in Youtube
Does it happens with extensions turned off?

It seems that all what i asked in here, works in Vivaldi, so i start to use that or Maxthon.
Even 'double click to close tab' work. Ill wait 3-5 years and then try Opera again. Maybe it will work better then.
Maxthon has most features integrated to it and it has multi columns bookmarks what i coudnt enable in Vivaldi. -

Also it seems that Maxthon really have a good tab history. If you close tab and then undo it, you still have a full history.
