The first Opera developer 34.0.1996.0, the change log, and the announcement 😉

"Opening web pages via typing URL in the address field is for sure one of the most popular action that you do in your browser. Focusing on the address field, we would like make your daily actions easier and faster.

Today we have UI addition for you to check. When clicking address field with mouse, tiles with your most popular sites should appear – and then, the site is just a click away, no need to type anything. To enable the feature, please go to options and in the “User interface” section tick “Show extra suggestions”. Initially the tiles are filled in with your speed dials, but as you browse more and more, the content should be filled in with top sites.

If you have any suggestions towards your address field experience and this particular feature, be it opening websites or searching, please share with us; this is just initial developer iteration.

We’ve delivered Win 10 fix for Win95 like scrollbar style.

Work on improving download manager popup is also ongoing. You should be able to cancel ongoing download from the popup, earlier you needed to go to download manager.

Chromium is upgraded to version 46.0.2490.6.

      Known issues:

      - DNA-43967 Displaying Tab Preview causes renderer to crash on Windows 8 and higher,

      - DNA-43926 Misaligned items in menus.

      ☕ \m/

Important update for the Opera developer - 34.0.2011.0 😉

The change log, and the announcement.

        Crash fixes

        - Crash on Tab Preview – DNA-43967,

        - Windows XP specific crash on various video and plugin pages – DNA-44020.

        Discover is News

Since the name “Discover”, while quite bold, could be a bit confusing to some users, the feature is now renamed. Now, it is named “News” – clear and simple. Enjoy discovering your News!

        Share button on Mac

The support for native Share button on Mac has been implemented. It is now possible to share from within the browser using your selected social network or community:

Address bar recommendations - we have fixed a few issues:

        - The issue where visited sites were sometimes not recognized and not shown in the address bar recommendations. Now it is resolved in DNA-43977 and should work as expected,

        - We’ve also altered the way tiles are presented in case no apple touch icon is available for the webpage, please see T on the screenshot below,

        - Your history should be processed properly now, so that the collection is filled with your sites. Pre-installed SD's should be visible only upon clean install, or if you use them.

This feature is now enabled by default. To enable or disable the feature, please go to Settings and in the “User interface” section, modify the “Show extra suggestions” check-box setting.

In the next iteration, we expect to deliver the option to show only the actual SD’s collection here. We will be happy to see more suggestions on this improvement.

        MSE for MP3 support

MSE Audio now works from within Opera, enabling playback from Google Play Music and similar services.

We are also currently working on download improvements – expect more soon.

Chromium is upgraded to version 47.0.2508.0.

        Known issues:

        - DNA-44479 “Add to bookmarks” / “Edit bookmark” pop-up misses folder select dropdown.

        ☕ \m/

Are you using 2011.0 when you took the screenshot, or was it still waiting for you to restart?

Based on the icon in the taskbar, it seems to be a stable build.

Locate the folder and change its name so a new one will be created.

this is how my opera's folder looks like. I don't see any profile folder, though interesting, why is this "version" folder a double.

This is the installation folder, not the profile one. See "About Opera" for the path to the profile folder. Then, with Opera closed, rename it and see if anything changes.

                                  Come posso rimediare, grazie.

Opera uses the PPAPI version of Flash (also called pepper Flash), you will need to install it from your package manager. This part of the forum is English, you should have posted in the Italian section.

New update - Opera developer 34.0.2023.0, the change log, and the announcement 😉

                                        Linux proprietary codecs support

The chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra library contains all the proprietary codecs support and should be downloaded now with Opera if installed with the ‘apt-get’ command. Also, Opera deb should now recommend chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra installation or, if Opera detects the library in the system, ffmpeg will be automatically loaded.

                                        Download in progress warning dialog

As promised, we are currently testing the feature where Opera warns on exit when there are downloads in progress:

This feature is hidden behind the flag: #show-downloads-in-progress-warning (disabled by default). Please enable it via opera:flags if you want to see how it works.

                                        NPAPI is back

The flag #disable-npapi is now disabled by default, which means that the access to NPAPI plugins has been restored. For now. However, bear in mind that PPAPI plugins are prioritized if present, so some amount of digging in the flags might be needed anyway.

                                        MSE+MP3 on developer stream

MSE+MP3 on the developer stream is now available, which is controlled by the flag #mse-audio-mpeg-aac turned on by default.

                                        New Opera branding

In this release, we present you also with the visual Opera developer rebranding:

As easily noticed, the new Opera developer logo slightly reminds of the old Opera beta logo; as the rebranding gradually rolls out to the other streams, you will see the integrity of the whole change. Stay tuned.

                                        Bug fixes:

                                        - DNA-44658 Crash when adding or removing items from Speed Dial after synchronization has been fixed,

                                        - DNA-44054 Crash on Mac when updating Opera and restarting with bookmarks bar enabled is fixed,

                                        - DNA-44313 Crash on Ctrl+F in address bar when in opera:bookmarks has been fixed,

                                        - DNA-44479 “Add to bookmarks” / “Edit bookmark” pop-up misses folder select dropdown – fixed,

                                        - A number of Speed Dial glitches related to the #bookmarks-api-on-speed-dial flag has been fixed,

                                        - DNA-41941 Icon for downloads in private mode is fixed,

                                        - DNA-43138 Bookmark deduplication phase one has been implemented,

                                        - DNA-44278 Blank suggestions in address bar popup have been fixed.

                                        Known issues:

DNA-44543 Impossible to enter special characters in the address bar.

                                        ☕ \m/
