A bunch of websites are as of yesterdays evening broken for 12.16. Popular sites like Twitter, Tumblr and others. This is how for example Twitter's main page looks for me:

Tumblr looks the same. I tried completely reinstalling Opera, deleting all settings, starting from fresh, and I even tried Opera on another computer and on another network and I get the same results.

I don't know if this is related, but this is what Dragonfly outputs on Scripts:

Sooo..... is this the end for Opera 12.16? It can't be a coincidence that a lot of popular websites just implented something that Opera 12.16 doesn't support, right? 😕

Yep! Same here. Cleared my cache and it displayed better but no images showing.

It doesn't look good that's for sure, the more it happens then we will have to look at alternative browsers. Opera Next is not on my list of alternatives as it stands at the moment. 😞

Hi! Seems to be related to the download of ressources, eg. this which twitter tries to download
          https://abs.twimg.com/a/1382083649/t1/css/t1_core_logged_out.bundle.css
          gives me

          Secure connection: fatal error (1066)

          https://abs.twimg.com/a/1382083649/t1/css/t1_core_logged_out.bundle.css

Unable to verify the website's identity (OCSP error).

The response from the online certificate validation (OCSP) server was too old.

PS: as a workaround you can disable opera:config#SecurityPrefs|OCSPValidateCertificates ... though as it seems to be a pretty security-relevant feature I would not do so ...

            Thanks a lot, it worked!

It does seem like a security risk, but I already had done long before all my online banking on FireFox, since internet banking sites have been broken on Opera for a long while now.

Nope, darkdex52. The end of it is the fact so few people are complaining. -The new version is nothing but a Google submission- Opera, as a single pioneer concept, has ended already, only a bunch of stubborns (like us) left. As a good friend I'll stay by its side until it perishes, the process has started already, it won't take long.

This is not the first time in history that the best product is overtaken by mediocrity, and it won't be the last. For us the good memories, for the newborn the sad massification. :awww: 😢

I'm having the same issue on Linux.

Opera > 15 is a trash... I'm thinking to more to another browser after 12.16 gets too old.

I just came here to post about this. I guess my move from Opera to a different browser is going to be happening a lot sooner than I thought.

I don't think they promised to fix every web site that breaks in Opera 12. They just promised to fix security issues and keep it up to date. Opera 15 (July 2nd 2013)

We have neither asked nor forced our 12.x users to upgrade to Opera 15, as we know that some features that are important to you are still to come. So, while you are very welcome to test and use Opera 15, Opera 12.x will still be alive for some time. You can expect that we will keep Opera 12.x up to date and secure. In the future, once we are comfortable with the feature set, we may ask you to upgrade.

Site issues have always been difficult to address, because they're not under Opera's control. Moving to the Webkit/Blink rendering engine was, I believe, driven by the perpetual problem of keeping popular sites working.

In topic titled OCSP error, former senior developer yngve commented,

The problem has nothing to do with the certificate, but with the connection stability to the issuer's OCSP server which is checked every few days (sometimes every few hours) to determine if the certificate is still valid and have not been revoked by the issuer. Sometimes the network connection to those servers experience problems, and occasionally the server itself have problems. In those cases Opera will reduce the security level to indicate that the validity of the certificate could not be checked completely.

However clearing storage cache do not remedy the Twitter issue. As I use a standalone 12.02 installation customised especially for Twitter and nothing else, I may try disabling opera:config#SecurityPrefs|OCSPValidateCertificates if not resolved soon. Thanks for the info, serious.

                              Update
Clearing storage and cache did work but required two restarts, but without images loaded on twitter page. So I will probably have to try serious' opera:config switch after all.

I hat the same issue as of today but narrowed it down to yesterdays Java update (Vers7, update 45) - Twitter was running fine until then - but now it looks just like the first post - works fine in Explorer and Chrome interestingly...

So any idea how we get this fixed would be great - thanks

It isn't Java. I have this problem and I don't even have Java installed.

JavaScript... not Java... two way different things that share some part of the name 😃

JavaScript is the default script language used by all web browsers
Java is the complete programming language (not a script) used by Java Virtual Machine * you need to install it on your PC *

                                          There are not related.

Thank you edmarcio. Yet it is a strange unfortunate coincidence that on the same day we got Java 1.7.0_45 some sites got suddenly broken. I'm just wondering if there was some safety update to the JavaScript language that Opera 12.16 was not updated/prepared with/for. Opera should do fine with TLS 1.0, RC4 128 bit encryption; RSA 2048 bit exchange of tumblr and tweeter, which are pretty standard, the fact is the login page is totally scrambled... Tumblr and Tweeter are also two different things and yet... There should be a culprit and the only changing I can remember in the OS was, as mentioned by Flxwrx, the Java update.

I have to believe you when you say they are not related, yet these things are not a mere hazard.
