Hi. Just wondering when a RPM based installation/update will be available for RPM based Linux distros... like Fedora Linux. I noticed debian-based packages available, but where is support for the other distro's?

Right now Opera doesn't offer any official RPM packages, but a former Opera employee has helped Fedora users to install Opera. See this article: http://ruario.ghost.io/2015/01/05/my-opera-test-repository-for-fedora-and-opensuse/

He also posted a script used to convert .deb to .rpm here: https://gist.github.com/ruario/3ed0d3a6c0764c4ae9f9

But I guess your (rightful) question is: when will Opera release official .rpms? We do build .rpms internally, we just don't release them, since we don't have a repository to back them up right now. So... Wait a bit and see :). I can't make any promises.

Internal testers can get RPMs of the test builds, but there is no consistent "repoitory" setup for RPM-based distros. OpenSUSE uses YUM, PCLOS uses apt-rpm, Mageia uses urpmi, ... while Debian-based distros all use apt.

Tarballs are okay, but don't provide a way to check dependencies like package managers will.

The russian-fedora community repo carries all of the opera RPMs. http://ru.fedoracommunity.org/repository
