"open link in new window" opens new tab in same window

I am using Opera 30 on Windows7.
Whenever I right click on a link and select "open link in new window", a new window flashes briefly on the Windows taskbar then closes. The link then opens as a new tab in the currrent window.

Is this a bug in Opera, or is there some setting that I am missing?

It's working fine here.

Do you use any extension? If so, check with them disabled.

Thanks, that pooitned me in the right direction. The "Classic Tabs" extension was causing this behavior.
