Hi!
We just released Opera 29.
If you’ve followed our beta releases, you probably won’t be surprised to see that we’re replacing Off-Road mode with Opera Turbo in this release. Opera Turbo has been with us for a long time in the company, but this release features our second-generation technology, which offers great advantages. Not only does Opera Turbo give you great data savings, but it also provides a full HTML5 browsing experience with maximum site compatibility.
You may notice the savings dial reports slightly less savings now, but the actual data transferred over the wire does not differ much, since Opera Turbo uses the cached data much more effectively than Off-Road mode did.
Our text-wrap feature is now polished to the stage where we’re comfortable turning it on for all our new users by default.
We’re also continuing to add features to our sync service. This time, we’ve added a way to sync your devices’ open tabs.
This release contains:
- Tab synchronization, including a new view for synced tabs and a new layout in the tab manager
- Improved text wrap (now enabled by default for new users)
- 64-bit support
- A new progress bar
- Opera Turbo (replacing Off-Road mode)
- A Chromium upgrade to version 42
- Various stability and usability improvements
The update has been pushed to Google Play and should be available very soon. Please download Opera 29 for Android from Google Play and leave us your feedback.

Hi,
We've gotten reports of this via our crash reporting system. We're looking into making a fix for this and will push it out via GP as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused to you.

It seems that Developer Options resets animation settings since Opera 29 is alive. I think this version is very likable.

from what I have tested.. opera Turbo saves little less but its more compatible with all pages.. like gmail news papers youtube. even the Facebook is the new version on turbo mode on..
questions
-
on turbo mode Video player is compressing data or not?
-
if i turn On Opera Max.. will be more compressed or not? because opera max didnt compressed when it was on off-road because it was already on maximum compressed
-
i like to work in Opera can you give me a job? anything..

We have not yet enabled the video compression in Opera Turbo, but it's something we're considering for a future update. I believe you can use Max in the mean time if you want to get compressed video. As for jobs, check out our job listings there are always interesting opportunities at Opera!

@emoller Just checked, turbo2-lvs is there for mobile content (3gp, mp4 files) but not for html5 media.

Well, on second thought 90% data can be saved with Turbo on, almost equal with Opera Mini. However on 29 beta the amount of data savings per session was higher with Opera Max.

I'm having the crash issue too. First I tried deleting cache and data, but it only worked for one restart, then I reinstalled it completely and now it works. Opera for Mac shows 2 devices under tabs now, and 2 different speed dials (from same phone obv.). I am not able to delete a linked device, that's something that would come in handy imo, we should just be able to get rid of the superfluous ones.
Also when I reinstalled opera and logged into my account the bookmarks synced just fine, but my speed dials do not reappear again on android, despite them being saved to opera since I can see them just fine on os x. Populating speed dials for the n-th time is a tedious task.
I like the direction this is going to though, great job.

Hi all the crash fix has now gone live (at least here in Norway where I am at the moment). Hopefully you should get an update in GP and it'll solve the problem if you were experiencing crashes on startup. Thanks for your patience!

The new update actually disables being able to access synced tabs from os x. The only thing that shows up there is tabs from the previous version of opera for android.

@luetage my synchronisation works ok with bookmarks.. ps and mobile.. just is not clear my mobile have regular and beta version so how it works by recognising device what is priority because is two broswer in one device.. bookmarks is not the problem just speed dial ... my folder tabs again is mixed duplicating so i just separate them for now.. till i figure what to do

Uhh progress bar. Noo... It makes no sense!!
It didn't even let the previous spinner location take another purpose, it's absolutely useless.Congratulations on the Turbo release, at last.

hi, I updated from 28 to 29 today and found that the turbo mode is not as good as off-road mode, it only save 61% data, but off-load could save almost 80%~90%+ data, i browse almost same pages and found the difference.
