opera is not what it used to be

the tab to the left no longer exists
there is no infobox anymore for info on the page
your download system is now very bad compared to some years ago
the search from the urlbox breaks occasionally, and its broken for me at the momentwhoever it is at your team that makes such changes, you better kick them fast and revert these changes,
you may not care but these details was what made opera better, and your lack of insight to what makes opera better hinders you from making it even better. Perhaps you dont care, but those who switch to other browsers DO.
opera is perhaps 20 % worse than what it was 3 years ago.

Without SimpleUndoClose add-on I just had to install it's 50 % worse... Bookmarks, no private tabs (only windows), possibilities of customization, and so on - almost everything is worse... I couldn't believe they decided to make Opera just a skin to Chrome - a browser with worse interface than Opera had many years ago. Make new Opera like version 12, but with new engine. No many reasons to use new version any more, really.
Greetings from Poland, where an old Opera gained pretty big share of market.

Wow, so much FUD to try and correct. Welp, heres my attempt:
@ozzythaman
The first several lines of your post and most sections of it are unreadable. I have no clue what you are even talking about half the time. Please use proper punctuation in the future.your download system is now very bad
This I understood. Yes, the download system is basic. It took 18 years to make Opera 12 what it was. They've had 2 years to make the current Opera what it is. Give them time. Or install a download manager extension. Either or.
the search from the urlbox breaks occasionally, and its broken for me at the moment
Not having any problems here. We can't really help you if you don't describe the problem.

So, you need an addon to do a function that is already in Opera? Why? Ctrl+Shift+T reopens the last closed tab. In addition soon to be released updates add recently closed history to the tab bar (similar to the trachcan of older releases). Even without that you can see your recently closed history in the Opera menu in the current version.
a browser with worse interface than Opera had many years ago.
As I said above it took 18 years to make Opera what it was. What do you do for a living? Do you think you could perform 18 years worth of whatever your job is in 2 years? Talk about unreasonable expectations...

Not possible. The Presto rendering engine was integrated with the Opera interface. Their was no way to separate them. If they wanted to use a new rendering engine, which they needed to do because of the problems maintaining their own renderer was causing, they had to toss out the old interface. There was simply no way around it.

Let's say I want to reopen a tab closed before 5 other tabs. Do I have to reopen 6 tabs? With keyboard? I would like to do it with a mouse. I hope they will add trash can soon.

But that job is done. It just needs to be implemented. 2 years is enough. I'm not a developer, but, I think, they make much more sophisticated software (from scratch) than, for example, "recently closed tabs" function out there.
They just got rid of the old Opera, and named Chrome Opera 15, and this is strange. They should keep developing until (at least) implementing most important old functionalities, and then release new Opera IMHO (with new engine, of course).
I hope all old functionalities will be back in newer versions (including right click+scroll)

You say, "Let's say I want to reopen a tab closed before 5 other tabs. Do I have to reopen 6 tabs? With keyboard? I would like to do it with a mouse." Click on the menu with your mouse (top left of browser) (or open it with Alt key or Alt F) and scroll down to Recent Tabs, 5 down from the top in my version. Then select with the mouse "Recent tabs" and chose the one that you want to open, the one that is that you closed before you closed five other tabs. That's simple to do with the mouse.

Three clicks instead of two + not so comfy like an old trash can, but maybe I'll get used to it.

Like I said, in the Development build a thing similar to the trashcan is coming. Its a combined system with other features though so it will still take you three clicks to open a closed tab.
But that job is done. It just needs to be implemented. 2 years is enough.
I doubt you could get more than 2 people on this forum to agree on what features need to be added sooner rather than later. What makes you think the devs have the same priorities as you?

Like I said, they have other priorities. You are free to contribute though, thats what the extension feature is for. While you may not be a programmer yourself you are free to hire one to make any changes you want. You know what they say: put your money where your mouth is.

They did. There were several updates made to Opera 12 after Opera 15 came out. If fact, theres nothing preventing you from running Opera 12 right now. You can have it and newer versions of Opera installed on the same system without issue. You act like they prevent this or something.
I hope all old functionalities will be back in newer versions (including right click+scroll)
Some will return, other wont. You wont see an IRC client or email built into Opera for example. They've explained their reasons before so I wont repeat them here. Just

It's actually just two clicks. One click to open the menu (if you don't want to press the Alt key), and then just move the mouse cursor down to "recent tabs" because there's no need to click. The second click is clicking on the tab you want to open. If you press the Alt key (or Alt f) to open the menu, then you can simple do the rest (move the mouse cursor down to recent tabs) with just one click in selecting the tab you want to open.

Make new Opera like version 12, but with new engine.
It won't happen. They are/have been building a new browser with a different target.
can you tell me that target... Im not sure I can get it what the point of new Opera... please explain to me (of course reason to have better compatibility with websites is not reason its obviousness)

They want to target a major audience.
And I want to be superhero but reality is different. Truth is that new Opera didnt gain new users but upset the old ones and there is still only few percent of market for Opera like it was before. Nothing change but question is what will happend when old Opera users will migrate to somthing else...
No change with amount of user but upset old users... still whats the deal?

Incorrect. Opera usage is on the raise, not falling.
but upset the old ones
As Woodrow Wilson once said: 'If you want to make enemies, try to change something.'
No change with amount of user but upset old users... still whats the deal?
Every single time you post here its just to complain about stuff. Why bother? We can't change anything for you. You're just wasting your time.

I depends on what stats are you looking at but in average Opera stays about 1,4% maybe 1,5% of whole market.
+- 0,5% cant be cosidered rising or falling its just stats errors. Anyway:W3counter +0,8%
Statcounter +0,5%
w3school -0,3%
netmarketshare -0,12%
akamai -0,6%In average its about +0,06% for 2 years its not really good at all. Also I didnt say that Opera is falling but stays the same.

Few months ago the idea of using browser other than Opera 12 wouldn't even cross my mind. After setting things up I gave it a try and now I'm glad they made that choice. It isn't the same but still no other browser does it like Opera!

Its just empty words... new Opera dont have any special features that others dont have. Changes between old and new Opera are that new Opera have less features than old one and same features are more complicated in new Opera.

You don't like the new Opera. We get it. We understand. You don't need to keep going on and on about it. Just stop using it, stop coming to this forum and spare us all.

Its not about If I like or not new Opera but about truth. New Opera dont have any special features. Its same as Firefox or Chrome... its just another browser with extensions, nothing speacial. Sadly lots of speacial/cool/good (whatever you want) features was lost and probably cant be replaced with extensions.

So what? You've said your piece. We've heard your opinion. You are beating a dead horse. Its not going back to the way it used to be. Deal with it. Move on. Get a hobby or something.

Running a browser (Opera 12) with tons of built in functions forcing everyone to use them wasn't a great idea. Sure we liked it at the time but still. The new Opera sure is not as easy but it can achieve far more than the old one in every way.
