How do I remove the Google Search bar from my startup page? I am running Opera 22.0 on a Macbook. Thanks

Should be the same as on Windows, generally ...
go to Settings, then click outside the search box. Using the keyboard, press
up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, A, B
... to enable Power User mode. Confirm the dialog that appears. Scroll down in Settings to the startup options, there should be a check box there for this.

Slight but important correction to the above (at least for Windows)...
up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a

This doesn't seem to work for mac. Yes, one can enable power user mode; but in Preferences (there is no Settings) there isn't an option to remove the google search box... Any mac user able to advise?

I'm not sure what the settings are called in English, but the option to hide the search box is definately there on Mac. It's right under Startpage, after the setting for max number of columns, above the hardware acceleration setting.

Thanks for the help folks; finally did it when I upgraded to Opera 23; suspect I followed incorrect instructions for the power user mode before. Happy now!

Better late than never. stefl it Is Preferences, not Settings as Macs don't, as you know, have anything called Settings.
Glad you found it.
