I totally vote against this, would be way too much potential to be openly abused by spammers, and would make tracking them (spammers) down all the more awkward if they had the ability to delete their own posts.

I've never been a member of any forum that allows posters to completely delete their own posts or threads.
The best you can hope for is to be able to edit your posts to remove the content.

I vote against this idea. There is little good that can come from it... but lots of not-so-good things, as well as confusion for other posters - especially those who come along much later in time. Editing allows a poster to correct any obvious errors discovered right after posting... and re-posting to the same thread allows clarification once the editing window has closed. Other than that, the best rule of thumb is to think - twice, if necessary - before posting anything one may regret later.

I think you can delete your own posts within half an hour of making them, but not threads.
