There is little good that can come from it... but lots of not-so-good things, as well as confusion for other posters - especially those who come along much later in time. Editing allows a poster to correct any obvious errors discovered right after posting... and re-posting to the same thread allows clarification once the editing window has closed. Other than that, the best rule of thumb is to think - twice, if necessary - before posting anything one may regret later.

The best you can hope for is to be able to edit your posts to remove the content.
