Reporting and Moderation

O'k, still Andreas, you're going to tune it up, aren't you?
I'll see about that word and be guessing. What I can - actually repeat - now is your machine needs a couple of more parameters to consider. Wanna know?:sherlock:
- Some data about THE POSTER: like if s/he's a monkey or not - which can go with other badges
(or rather data behind them)
as well. - If it's being posted in the lounge: we can 'endure' a bit more frivolousness there*;)*
Don't rush it, of course. All I can say in case you have something concerning about it, is we always have the moderators and the report button - to deal with, well, certain marginal occurences*;)*

We will be whitelisting admins, moderators, and possibly server monkeys as well. We could also look at amount of posts, eg whitelist someone with 500+ posts. No promises though.
If it's being posted in the lounge: we can 'endure' a bit more frivolousness there
We will have the same spam filter in the lounge as elsewhere in the forum.

You guys are doing a great job and we appreciate your hard work. I've noticed that spam is considerably down in the forums... a very nice break for all of us. Thanks.

Post held for moderation
Oh you tricky bastards*:D*
I typed "shit" with a Russian letter in place of "sh" - and it's still holding! -

I would presume the filter thinks anything with mixed encoding is spam (Russian letters in English words), since it is a common approach spammers use to try to fool keyword filters.
Whatever it is, it's a huge improvement! Again... thanks, to those who've implemented it!

Black, was your post held too or is it just a usual mess about the last post?
I just hopped in in case - in this case all right: your post isn't shown* on the index page.*Wasn't shown: now it's mine that's shown.

*Wasn't shown: now it's mine that's shown. Not that I observed. It showed up here right after I posted it, though I never checked the timestamp. There are some peculiarities going on right now... I've noticed that a user's post count seems "stuck" for various timespans. Yesterday, I saw a poster with two posts showing a zero post-count.
For me, it's all compounded in the evening hours because my ISP is chronically under-servered, and things slow down to well below dial-up speeds many evenings. The result is that Opera's forums take several minutes (each page) to load/refresh/update, which plays havoc with how the forum continuity and responsiveness appears here at such times. Edit: case in point: it took over 3 minutes to refresh this page after I posted this originally; the posting time shown on the post is correct, but it took the 3 minutes to render the page back to my system. As a result, I often don't go back to check the index pages to see if my post shows there - at least in the evening hours.

Your post isn't shown again there*. The last post shown on the index page is mine (it was previous one).
Are you sure your post wasn't held for moderation?*Was
again - just to clarify...

@christoph142
Weather has lots of sites of "its own", photography has a lots of sites of its own.
CLOSE THE LOUNGE - it's not about Opera and every topic there has a lots of "sites of its own".
You idiot. -

What are you replying to? christoph142 hasn't ever posted in this thread!

He closed a thread for a wrong reason.
I don't oppose a supposed theoretical presumption that the topic would've been worth closing for some reason(s). I only oppose the wrong reason - thus the closing (for a wrong reason).Well, I might have to apologise for the words. Not for the idea expressed though.

You idiot.Whoa there, @joshl...! @christoph142 explained his reasoning in that thread ( https://forums.opera.com/post/61891 ), and he did what he felt was consistent with that reasoning. Your examples of "other" Lounge topics (and those I see appearing in the Lounge) are not competitor products with Opera, and after all, Opera pays for the infrastructure to support ALL these forums.
Please... there's no reason not to be polite around here - and calling somebody an "idiot" is not being polite. Truth be told, most forums I've been in will suspend users for personally attacking others, particularly over moderation of a post or thread.
