How bad can it get?

Have been using Opera for about 10 years. After I made the change from 12 to 25 I am seriously considering to move to another browser!
So many things are made harder to use or aren't there anymore at all!-
How can I put a "Home Button" in my navigation bar to simply get to my startpage? This is so essential that I really don't understand how it is excluded.
-
Why is it that there is no bookmark manager to be found anywhere? Instead of just one click to get to my bookmarks I now have to go Opera->Bookmarks->My Folders->Imported Bookmarks.
-
Why are the speed dial shortcuts not working anymore. ctrl+1 / ctrl+2 was a delight to work with, now it seems to be gone!
This feels like an early beta version which somehow got released as a stable version!

No button. Requested in "Suggestion box".

Have you tried "Ctrl B"?

Low priority. Has been requested and discussed in "Suggestion box" too.

You mean like the "Start page"-button just left of the address bar...?

Ctrl+Shift+B

CTRL+Shift+B plus clicking on Imported Bookmarks, then clicking on the sub folder and than having to work through huge icons isn't very practical, is it?
If Speed dial shortcuts weren't a priority why not leave them in, it's not like it is going to hinder anyone who isn't using it.
The Star-Page Button left to the address bar is nothing like the old home button. It doesn't bring to directly to your start page but to the speed dial page.
I might be a minority with those issues but it feels sad to turn my back to a browser which I have loved for so long!

Imported Bookmarks should be seen as a temporary place imho. After the import you go there and put the bookmarks in their new places.

One issue is that Opera now supports folders in SD and this may impact the behavior of shortcuts.

In addition, they had disabled speed dial shortcuts in the last few versions of 12 anyway. The bookmark manager - such as it is - is also available in speed dial itself where Stash used to be. Unfortunately you can't drag a folder to the root.
And that is very annoying.
Your bookmarks should be accessible with one click only! -

If you're happy to use the bookmarks bar, right click on it and add a folder in it called "Bookmarks".
Then in the bookmarks manager copy your bookmarks folders into the Bookmarks folder under "Bookmarks bar" at the bottom of the list on the left.
This will give you a "Bookmarks" entry in the bookmarks bar, which when clicked will show you your bookmarks folders, pretty much as Opera 12 used to do from the menu bar.
The only downside to this is that if you add a new bookmark, you will have to remember to put it in two places, in the normal folder and the folder under the bookmarks bar.

Yeah, tried that but it is to impractical.
I have too many bookmarks to properly make use of the bar.I think I will stay off Opera for a while and hope that future versions will rectify these shortcomings.
I read on another page that there is a 27 version in the making and that bookmarks aren't really properly implemented in this version. -

Well I have a couple of thousand bookmarks, and it's fine for me, in fact the drop-down menu when I click on the Bookmarks entry in the bookmarks bar is virtually identical to what I see in Opera 12 when I click on "Bookmarks" in the menu bar.
It even includes the "add bookmark here" function as Opera 12 does.
I appreciate this doesn't help with editing them of course, but it's a very quick way of accessing them.
You can right click on the folder entries and quickly sort them A>Z as well, which you can't do in Opera 12 without going to "Manage Bookmarks"!
I do use Opera developer 27 BTW, and the bookmarks system is not fundamentally different from 26, mainly just cosmetic changes.

All of this is being done in the name of "simplification for mobile phones" ... I guess those of us on pc's and laptops no longer matter. They want as simple an interface as possible to fit on a small screen. Now why don't some of you answer my question just before this one. hahaha! Jack ":-DX

I find it weird that you can type in a start page address in settings, but then there is no home button if you want to revisit that page again without typing in the address or making a bookmark. It would be nice to be able to choose between speed dial and an ordinary home page function.

Yet another pointless thread. Why hasn't this been closed? What possible benefit can it be to those seeking help with their browser?
