Hello, as in the title. I asked this before and got good answer here.
https://forums.opera.com/topic/2972/standardbrowser-entfernen-opera-21-0-1432-67/3
Now same solution doesn't work anymore. Can you fix this stupid idea of putting yahoo on y? Noone wants it and noone needs it there!

I would love a fix for this. I don't want to have to relearn shortcuts that someone else chose for me.

Have you tried typing "y" and "o" into the address bar? I realize that this is an extremely taxing effort (to type two whole letters into an address bar as opposed to hitting a "y" key... in other words, one WHOLE extra stroke on your part) but then that seems to work perfectly well for me.

It's not about that. It's about opera forcing stuff on me that I don't want. I remember in previous versions it was not a problem to use whatever shortcuts I wanted for whatever I wanted! But now they force it on me. Is there now a way to fix this? Fix as to put y and oly y for whatever I want and not for what you want?

Hi @namal23: Sorry for that - I should mentioned also, that you need to repeat this workaround after each update : close the Opera, go to the Opera's installation root (find the path in O-Menu>About Opera>Paths>Install), then change to the "25.0.1614.50/resources" subdir, and rename the "defaultpartnercontent.json" file to e.g. "defaultpartnercontent.jsox", relaunch the Opera, and it should work again

Hi @namal23: This still works here without problem:
Are you sure, that you renamed the file in proper subdir, which I mentioned it above?

No, doesn't work. I have two dirs 24.0.1558.64 and 25.0.1614.50, I have renamed defaultpartnercontent in both of them. When I go to the search engine settings, they all are still there.

Thank God the work-around in this thread still works: http://forums.opera.com/post/38687
Opera can be so backwards sometimes...

so I heard about that new opera beta for linux and I tried it out. I was amazed how good it was, especially that "Y" was fully available and I could assign it as I was pleased. So I want back to windows and installed the windows version just to be disappointed again. It seems it is too difficult or even impossible to let people dicide what letter they want to assign for a search engine.

so do you ever plan to free up the literal y for a custom search engine or not?

Seeing as how no Opera developer posted in this thread... who are you asking?
