Permanently pinned tabs?

If you want a session to start by default each time the browser starts, just save some sessions to Session Body, then use Session Buddy to open in Opera the tabs the way you want it in Opera (let's say, tabs A, B and X was the one of the saved Sessions you decide you would like to start Opera with), then go to settings/Browser and put a check in Continue where I left off. Close Opera, Open it tomorrow, and the tabs should open with A, B and X.
If you want to Open with that Session every day, then just put the check in Open a Specific Page or Set of Pages, and make sure then to have A, B, and X set up as the pages you want.

I don't think I'm following you. If I tell Opera to "continue where I left off," isn't that simply saying that I need to have open, the tab session that I want to see (email and speed dial pages), whenever I close Opera? If I have to manually fiddle, I might was well open Opera with a vanilla start page/SD, and then do it myself then and there.
I have saved in Session Budy, a tab session I have called startup--a SD page and my webmail. But I'm not sure how to tell Session Buddy to open up that session every time I start Opera.

I don't have Session Buddy, so you have to fiddle with it and Opera to see what works best for what you want to do. If you have five sessions saved, and then suddenly decided you wanted to open in the future from seession 2 couldn't you have Opera open Session 2 via Session Buddy. Once Opera opened in that way, then go to settings in Opera, and make that session your permanent opening. You've said already that you cannot use session buddy to set up how Opera opens. So you have to play with Session Buddy AND Opera's menu in settings to get it done.

I think you didn't get the point of this thread... That won't solve the problem because the pinned tabs will return as regular tabs when this option is used. -

At this point I still don't know what Session Buddy has to do with it. Regardless of how I tell Opera to open up tabs A, B, and C (whether manually arranging them, or having Session Buddy remember them and then restore them)--telling Opera to open them up will only display regular tabs, even if tab A was pinned. Session Buddy doesn't change that.

I've never really used Pinned tabs myself, so sorry if I'm not quite following.
Take these two possibilities then for whatever they may be worth. Maybe something here in the Chrome Store might meet a need:
a. The Tab Cloud Extension (allows you to save any window session and restore it at a later date, even between computers)(from the comments, it seems to include pinned tabs) (1240 downloads, 4 and 1/2 star rating: it is LIKED).
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tabcloud/npecfdijgoblfcgagoijgmgejmcpnhof/reviews?hl=en
b. How about this extension in Chrome (Real Pinned Tabs).
The summary of it says: "You can define an unlimited number of tabs which are always loaded pinned on startup."
Now I surrender and give up. Hope you can find help.

OK Lem, you're the hero for the day. Real Pinned Tabs did it. I have told Opera only open up the start page when it starts up; Real Pinned Tabs is set only to open up a pinned tab for my webmail (whcih is the only pinned tab that I want).
OK, now upon startup, I get the SD page, as well as a pinned webmail page.
Thia is it. Thanks to everyone for hanging in there with me.

This worked for me (6/22/2014 - Opera 12.17):
To make sure your pinned tabs always open in Opera, bring up the tabs (sites) you like and click File > Sessions in the upper left corner. Select "Save This Session," give the session any name you like (i.e. opera-01), check the "Show these tabs and windows every time I start Opera." Next time you start Opera, the same tabs will start up with it.
My understanding is that pinned tabs stay pinned when you start Opera again, but not for certain versions of Opera like mine (which claims to be the latest).
Anyway, I hope this helps you!

The challange was to do this in Opera Blink (now vers. 22). @shel777, yours is the latest version of Opera Presto. Opera has switched its rendering engine from Opera Presto to Opera Blink, and has been working on reprogramming it. Some of the features taken for granted in Opera Presto, are not available in Opera Blink, or need to be approximated via extension. The new browser (with the Blink engine) is faster, can access a wider range of sites, than could Presto, and has, among other things, an enhanced Speed Dial. However there was far more customization built into the native Opera Presto browser. With Opera Blink one may well have to look for extesnions (which can be either Opera extensions, or Chrome extensions) to suit individual needs, so the Opera browsing universe is in flux. There are many Opera users still using Opera 12.17 because they are happy with it, and many others who have shifted to Opera Blink. In fact, you can easily download Opera 22 and explore it, while still using your Opera 12.17.

Pinned tabs are kept if I configure Opera to continue from where I left, is there any other to keep pinned tabs?
