What percentage of people are adapting well to the new Opera?

I barely use it anymore. I am here now because my firefox is not working so I went back to opera to find out most of the functions i loved in opera 12 are now gone.

I always find it amusing when users report so much hatred for the new Opera browser, migrate over to FF and then claim that FF no longer works. How very strange. I've been using FF for years and it's always worked but somehow they manage to break it in a few days. Others jump to Chrome which is ironic since they claim to hate the new Chrome-like Opera and yet they turn around and migrate to Chrome without even trying to understand the new browser. My gut feeling is that they have done nothing of the kind but feel the need to vent their frustration and so we hear these sob stories. As I see it the options are simple: Stay with Opera Presto with the understanding that it is increasingly incapable of providing a secure, efficient browser OR go with the new Opera browser and try and adapt by making use of extensions from either Opera or Chrome OR go with another browser. Whining and threatening have done nothing for over a year now and will continue to do little other than raise some clouds of cyber dust. Opera is getting better all the time. Learn to use it. Ask your questions respectfully and try to adapt.

well, im not going back to the 12 version after a few days of testing. Sites are actually working, lastpass works when the wand did not on many sites. On my tablets the pop up keyboard works, problem is still the bookmarks and panel is missing.
Had to move email accounts and have a bunch of extensions visible, it still seems better than opera 12, it is just no the all in one it used to be.

@bobman
why are bookmarks still a problem for you. I thought you found a bookmark manager extension you liked.

I'm using Opera 22. I pretty well have it customized to my liking.
I miss the permanent bookmarks sidebar, but there are extensions available that somewhat duplicate that.
I am satisfied.

i did not adapt well to this chrome-clone
(and yes, someone is saying that its not a clone, in my opinion its a clone, with a slightly different ui)i hate it when i need extensions even for the simplest tasks, like sorting bookmarks

I've always hated Chrome because so many things are not possible compared to Opera. Then Opera uses the foundation of Chrome for their new product. Ugh. Its like Ferrari using a Toyota frame and drivetrain for their next product.
So....are people finding the features they need through extensions?
And how about the Opera Mail stand alone program. Does it work better in any way than Mail in Opera 12? It wasn't a top quality thing but it was pretty good and for most people more than adequate for their needs. Guess we just get used to some stuff.Nothing ever was what it looked like in Opera. There is a good reason why they changed to develop chromium more.
you know Opera used to be the safest browser, right? I feel they did have a problem staying that way. And chromium may be not the safest interface, used by such a many people, but as Suntana said, they always found a way to be innovating. I guess Chromium does get better, and Opera doesnot need to invent the wheel every time. But they still use wheels, adapted to their engine, not the other way around, even it looks that way indeed. -

How do I revert my download manager back to it's single line elegance (which could display >20 download, as apposed to the current 4)>

I'm delighted you're delighted, but if it's no longer a feature, it ceases to be a reason for using Opera over other browsers.

It's simple to do the vast bulk of these things. You can't get your menu back, but that's in most cases one click on the alt key to see the menu (or at the worst if that doesn't work (alt f4, or click the logo). [/blockquote]I don't want the inverted logo tab, I want a menu that starts with "File"

No reason you can't adapt easily.
[/blockquote]There's no reason I can't just as easily adapt to any other new browser. Why should I invest in Opera?

Change shouldn't be 'welcomed', change should to be managed, I understand the business case for abandoning Presto, however what I don't understand is the abandonment of long established features.
Sadly you've provided no compelling argument for Opera, but plenty for extensions, sadly extensions are available in multiple platforms.
I guess I'll check back with version 33 and see if it boasts any improvement.

For those who want old opera notes in Opera 15+ Go to: https://github.com/hallvors/opera-notes-extension
On lower right side download zip file. Extract it where you can remember it. On Opera extensions page enable developer mode on top right of page. Hit Load Unpacked extension button and point to the extracted file. Once done hit options for the new extension, open notes.adr file from old opera in Notepad, select all, copy and paste into the open window and save. You now have all old notes and ability to make new ones as well as a Add to notes in context menu. -

And for whoever said private tabs wasn't available in any current browser, not true. Firefox still has private tab but you have to download the extension Private Tab. I use it in Palemoon.

Why bother? Your mind is closed (and already made up) so you'll be happier with another browser. So... see you back at version 33 (but my guess is: far before that number! LOL).

I've used Opera non stop for years (before Windows 98) and then there was the upgrade to a Chrome look alike. I tried to continue using V12 but on Windows 8.1 it would lock up chronic on my slow line.
So sadly now, FF gets my vote. I've got speed dial, Adblock etc etc and it works just about fine ... just wish it would open tabs like I like them to be opened. Biggest thing I do miss is the old bookmark side bar. The problem I find is that I really did like the old customisation of Opera. I do have Opera on my system but it very rarely gets opened since it failed to upgrade last time around. It was good while it lasted. Yes, the world has moved on.... me too

Closed to what exactly?
There's nothing in Opera 15+ to be closed to. All the features previously pioneered by Opera are gone or degraded.
What exactly is the value proposition of Opera (With extensions) over Chrome with extensions?
Neither has the features or flexibility I actually want (or use).
so you'll be happier with another browser. So... see you back at version 33 (but my guess is: far before that number! LOL).
Frankly Opera 15+ is much like Windows 8, some really great under the skin improvements marred by a fatally flawed (and ugly) UI.
