@17misha I think keyboard shortcuts are already implemented, have been for a long time. Hold OPT+CMD+ArrowKey and it will traverse. Similar on Windows too.

@romasio: Unfortunately, there are no such key combinations for Windows; I’ve tried to find them many times, but they simply don’t exist.

There are Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab, but they switch between active tabs rather than cycling through all of them in order, so they aren't useful. Plus, an awkward switching interface pops up; with over 100 tabs open, that makes it very inconvenient.

@17misha: I also don't like the default behavior of ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab, but there is a keybinds section in Opera, though it's super easy to miss. In settings, go to Features, then scroll all the way down. The very last option is "Configure shortcuts." When you click that, you'll probably be scrolled down the page of keyboard shortcuts a bit - scroll back to the top of the list. There's a special "Search shortcuts" field where you can find things easier. What you're looking for is "Switch right through tabs" and "Swith left through tabs" - set these to ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab. You may need to unbind the existing keybind for those - honestly, it's been so long since I set it, I don't recall if I needed to do that first. But now you can press ctrl-tab and move to the tab to the right, none of this last tab stuff. There's a few other annoyances I turn off in there as well. Hope that helps!

@dowiew: The question is: if Chrome does it better, what the hell are you doing here?

@vuedx I'm crying disappointed here! Long-term Opera user with the native "Vertical Tabs" extension with so compact tab layout, just can't live with the stupid vertical island view. Is it the hell that strange to yell here?

I think one should be able to move the tab from left to right. Please think of this for future update. Thank you

PLS enable vertical tabs bar auto-hide feature, please! My 19'' monitor now looks like a PAD, thank you so much.

Finally and I love it! Works better than in Chrome for me. So nice with tab islands.

I would like the vertical tabs in only one window for just that one set of tabs. The other windows would stay horizontal as usual. It is currently not possible.
I think I will only use this feature if I cannot determine what is in a tab by mousing over it.
The only problem I have with opera is opera playing videos when it starts up and I cannot find them. I have found a way to locate them but it still a chore. FYI: I usually have about 10+ opera windows open with about 8 - 60 tabs each

@17misha: A keyboard shortcut is also needed to quickly switch between horizontal and vertical tab layouts.

Why do you need a shortcut for switching? what makes you keep jumping frequently between vertical and horizontal tabs?

I switched to vertical once and that's it!

@funkyeuphemism: wouldn't a switch be an overkill? How many times do you switch everyday?

I would like tab islands to show as a horizontal strip in vertical tab mode, rather than a named dedicated tab like they do (vertically) when tabs are horizontal, and the option when I hover the tab bar for ~3 seconds to temporarily expand to show names (as an overlay, not a proper expansion which would cause a layout shift on opened webpages), among other improvements to the feature. Such as a compact mod, with less padding around the favicons, and shrink the girth of the bar as a whole (I use them icon-only). Custom Favicons for pinned tabs would be nice too, but meh.

The feature is incomplete. When using vertical tabs on MacOS, I can't drag to rearrange the tabs, which is a dealbreaker. Dragging a vertical tab up and down just makes it switch to the split view overlay, and no matter where I drop it, it turns into a new window instead of letting me rearrange the tabs.

I would like to request an option to unlock and adjust these panels so users can place them on either the left or the right side of the screen based on personal preference. Allowing this flexibility would greatly improve usability, screen space management, and accessibility for many users.
