i use gx and air, and im having this issue on both. i have three gmail accounts, one that is only for youtube, one that is functionally a personal account, and one that handles my more professional things like mails from doctors offices and my uni and things of that nature. i have my personal account set as my default, a bookmark to my youtube home page that is logged into that account, and another that is my email inbox logged into my professional account.

recently, when i open or change between tabs of any google service, opera force reloads and logs me into whichever account has most recently been signed into. e.g. i had my professional inbox open, i opened a new tab using my bookmark to search something on youtube, but it opened the wrong account. i switched to the correct account on youtube and when i went back to my inbox tab, opera force reloaded the page and logged me into my youtube email.

TL;DR it seems that opera will not let me have more than one tab of any google service open, unless i want to switch accounts every time i change tabs, to the point that it is over-riding my bookmarks.

is there anything that can fix this? it has become so annoying i am considering dropping opera altogether if there is nothing to be done.

@levelvi I don't think any browser will let you have two tabs of the same site/service running with different logins.

@levelvi On Opera GX you can have different profiles and use a different Google account for each one.

@leocg i do not have two instances of gmail or youtube open. i have each of them open and logging into a different account on one forces a reload and auto log in on the other.

@levelvi So you are on tab 1 and login using your account A. Then you open tab 2 and login with account B. Then tab 1 reloads and your are signed in there with account B. That's what happens?

In Opera GX, you can goto the URL opera://settings/early_bird, enable Early Bird, enable "Guest tabs" (disable all the other options if you just want "Guest Tabs") and restart Opera.

Then, goto google.com. Then, right-click that google.com tab and choose "Reload as guest tab". That will open a new tab where you can sign in to a different google account in that tab and goto youtube.com in that tab for example.

That will allow you to have 2 different accounts. Doing "reload as guest tab" again won't help you get a 3rd though. However, you can open a private window (ctrl + shift + n) and log into a 3rd Google account there. That will get you 3 total.

Besides those things, as said, you can enable "Revived GX Profiles" in Early Bird, restart Opera, goto the URL opera://settings/profiles and create extra standard profiles. You can then run those extra profiles at the same time as your main one. You can launch them via their desktop shortcuts or their taskbar icons (if on Windows 11 23H2 for example), or by clicking the menu at the top left of Opera and going to the "Profiles" submenu, or by clicking the profile you want at the URL opera://settings/profiles.

Those are for Opera GX. For Opera Air, you can create multiple profiles this way.

Opera doesn't have container tabs like Firefox does.

The google.com website allows you to switch between Google accounts you're signed in to, but not sure if the site allows you to load special URLs to have all of them active at once. Probably not though.
