Clicking on a notification just opens a blank new tab

Dear Opera Support Team,
I would like to report a technical issue that has appeared on the Opera browser after the last two updates.
As a professional journalist, I rely heavily on push notifications from news websites in order to stay constantly informed about current events. However, since the browser was updated, every time I click on a notification, it no longer opens a new tab (as it used to), but instead opens a new standalone window.
Even more importantly, this new window does not automatically redirect to the content of the notification, meaning I cannot immediately access the related article or page. This issue significantly disrupts my workflow and efficiency.
I kindly ask you to investigate this matter and, if possible, to restore the previous functionality — that is, to open a new tab and redirect directly to the notification’s content.
I remain at your disposal for any additional information or troubleshooting you may require.

@StavrosIoakeim Did you ever have another version of Opera installed (as in, Opera One and Opera GX, or both Stable and Beta)?
I had this issue before, it was because the notification was opening the wrong version of Opera. Not that your case is necessarily this, but it's the one I've seen ...

I am experiencing an issue with push notifications in Opera GX (LVL 6, 117.0.5408.162) on Windows 11 Pro (Version 24H2, Build 26100.3624)
When I receive a push notification from any website and click on it, instead of opening the related content in a new tab, the browser opens a new window, which remains completely blank.
This issue persists across the following recent versions:
117.0.5408.100
117.0.5408.140
117.0.5408.162 (current)
Could you please confirm whether this issue has been reported and if there is any planned fix?

@StavrosIoakeim I have the same issue, though it only shows Youtube push notifications for some reason. Hope push notifications get fixed because important emails can come without me knowing when I'm away from my phone.

To be completely honest, my patience has run out. For several versions now, the push notification issue remains unresolved, despite multiple updates. Every time I receive a notification and click on it, instead of opening in a new tab, Opera GX opens a blank new window with no redirect to the actual content.
This issue persists in all of the following versions:
117.0.5408.100
117.0.5408.140
117.0.5408.162
117.0.5408.205 (current – LVL 6)
I am using Windows 11 Pro (Version 24H2, Build 26100.3624) and I need a browser that works flawlessly and reliably for my daily journalistic work.
Yes, I have all Opera versions installed. But Opera GX is the only one that actually supports my workflow and makes my job easier. Now, I am being forced to switch to other browsers that slow me down and disrupt my efficiency, which is unacceptable for my professional routine.
I am demanding that you finally take this bug seriously and fix it immediately. It is absolutely unacceptable that a browser marketed as advanced and productivity-focused cannot even handle something as fundamental as push notifications properly.
I expect a real answer – and real action.
