Please explain for a dummy what the connection between Opera and Chrome is ? I see references to Chromium/Chrome which is Google right ? So how separate is Opera from the Google behemoth? Is it owned or managed by Google?
I have been using Opera for ever since the beginning but I'm not a coder//developer just an internet user. But I am wary of anything connected to Google.
      Thanks

@molehill Both Opera and Chrome are browsers based on Chromium.

@Molehill Opera is now a rebranded Chrome browser it uses Chromium sourcecode which is controlled by Google but not claimed to be owned so Google can attempt to shed liability.

@screenTapper Some of them are working on the Vivaldi browser.

Opera, Edge, Brave and Vivaldi - all of them use Chromium. The only alternative are Gecko based browsers, the most prominent of which is Firefox, and WebKit based ones like Apple‘s Safari.
Obviously building a rendering engine can’t be done by one small independent company. Heck, even Microsoft gave in and uses Chromium. Which is an Open Source project that‘s led by Google.
