Split-screen is going to be useful!
(And I am SO glad to be able to switch off those damned emojis.)

A thing I'd like to see with this new feature is the possibility to right-click on a website link and choose 'open link in split-screen' the same way you can choose 'open link in workspace'. And also add the option to choose the orientation of the split-screen.

Split screen is a welcome addition to Opera. I've used this feature in Vivaldi very often. So I appreciate that Opera does it, too, now. I hope, they add some possibility to split at least one more tab to it. Nevertheless, a very handy feature.

            Hello all !
Still waiting for the possibility to manually create tab groups with a given name !
This is a big lack compared to other browsers ...

My main challenge with island is identifying them. If I could give each island a name or favicon/emoji that would be very useful.

if you could also give us the ability to change the color of the traces, that would be nice.

@ApiwatIkkyu Nope, vertical tabs weren't re-add so far.

What is the shortcut for alternating between tab islands? For tabs it is ctrl + TAB

Hey there tab appreciators! If you’ve been using Opera for a while, you’ll be familiar with its penchant for innovating tabs. Ages ago, Opera was the browser that introduced the concept of tabs – a true innovation if there ever was one. And the Opera One developer release in 2023 delivered Tab Islands, an intuitive […]

Opera continues to innovate with features like Tab Islands, making tab management intuitive and efficient. It's great to see them leading the way for better browsing experiences

there is a bug where if you have multiple workspaces with their own tab islands and switch between them regularly, the workspaces that you were not on when you close the browser do not save the tab islands in them. So when you open up that workspace again, it's just a bunch of tabs with no islands

Has this bug been fixed yet? And if not, is there an estimate to when it'll be fixed?

If you want a split screen with multiple windows, all you have to do is hit Windows + (arrow key). Eg if you want one window on left and another window on right, Windows + L arrow for one window and Windows + R arrow for the other. That way is so much simpler than this new feature, and the new feature makes the browser unusable for when I want to drag & separate tabs.

@annoyed-at-updates: if you move tabs to an additional window just to create a split screen there's a chance of losing every open tab you had open. Power goes out, you close the "main" window without previously closing the temporary one, and now everything is gone. If there are tabs you haven't opened in a while they might not even show up in history for the last time you opened the browser. As for drag & separate - just release the tab above the address bar area, it's really not that hard to figure it out
