      @pe73

If you swipe sideways (to the right) the rest of your speed dials will be available, the Speed dials are now paginated, horizontally.

So from a UX perspective, some speed dials may not be visible directly, depending on the screen size, maybe, 1 or 2 rows would have been shown, but otherwise a user would need to scroll downwards.
With the new startpage design, the scroll is changed to horizontal instead. Almost the same.

The reason for the change is that we want to de-clutter the startpage, while still being able to show limited product info, news etc at a first glance without being too distracting.

Thank you for the explanation. I wouldn't have thought to swipe to the right when it's so easy. My bad. I fully understand the reasons for changing the presence of speed dials.

Its understandable, we need to show users how to do it, its on the to do list

          • add a minor indicator (without adding unnecessary vertical space)
          • maybe auto scroll a bit to showcase the option
          • auto scroll and animate when a new SD have been added

Yeah, it would be wise to somehow indicate it and lead users to swipe to the right. Thanks!

I have a suggestion for you. I have more than 70 speed dials, so I have them on more than 6 pages. Swiping back through each page to get to the first page is pretty silly and tedious. So please incorporate a quick skip option something like it is in native iOS (swipe over the dots at the bottom of the page to quickly get to the first, second and so on page).

              Thanks!

@pe73 potentially, but it takes more space
How about add folder support? Would that improve your user flow?

Partially yes but folders can create clutter when you have many speed dials and/or folders and it doesn't eliminate the need to scroll page by page. OK you wouldn't need that many pages but there would still be some.

So folder support is a good option but some sort of quick page skip option would be useful. OK I understand that my original suggestion would require more space, but how about making it so that the bottom right below the last row of speed dials would have active little symbols ≪ ≺ ≻ ≫, for instance.

@jonaballen the speeddial layout was one of the main reasons I used opera. Now that is gone. Putting all the spped dials on horizontal flip is a pain when you have more than 100 speeddial. If you can't provide an option for the old format I might shift back to safari as they have a favorite option on the landing page.

I use an iPad and chose Opera for the superb convenient speed dial.
I went through the trouble of cluttering up my start screen with shortcuts because it works so well for me.
Now with v5 I have to swipe 12 icons at a time while the start page is almost empty and what used to work so well has become a pain.
Is there be a way to downgrade to the old version back ?
Or better yet provide an option for the user to decide what works best for her/him

Hi, thanks for the solution been introduced in v5.0.6. It helps to skip pages quickly.

I completely agree! Having all speed dials visible on the main page was much more convenient. The extra clicks to access additional speed dials are definitely a hassle. It would be great if the next update could bring back the option to view all speed dials at once. Thanks for raising this issue!

Speed Dials are paginated and can be scrolled horizontally.
There are page controls (dots) below the speed dials and they work the same as on ios home pages.
You can swipe on the speed dial (area) or tap and drag on the page control to fast-scroll between SD pages.
We will look into fitting more speed dials on the same page, and other improvements, but it will remain horizontal scrolling.

Perfect! You can try to find more space for them on the page or shrink/make the SD lesser to fit more on one page. Or a combination of both.

I have hundreds of speed dials and horizontal scrolling will never work. You really ruined a good feature, and to what end? Can’t you add a setting to put them on one scrollable page?
