Many months ago, Opera announced publicly and via an eMail to users' Opera-registered eMail addresses that the My Opera site would close after 6 March 2014, and all eMail and blogs that users didn't move or copy out would be dumped. In the following weeks, countless Opera forum threads and posts roundly and heatedly discussed this. A variety of other websites picked up on the announcement and commented about it, as well. Obviously and unfortunately, you somehow missed all of that.
There is/was no scam involved. Simply and somehow, you missed seeing all of the announcements, the eMail, and the web comments. The site is gone; Opera has indicated there will be no retrieval. Your unhappy experience was duplicated by a few other users, according to forum posts I've seen since the shut-down. Perhaps not all Opera's eMail notifications arrived at their addresses or were blocked by spam filters or such; perhaps users had changed their Opera-registration eMail address and never notified Opera; perhaps users never browsed to the My Opera pages where the information was prominently located in the headers for some weeks prior. At this late point, nobody knows what might have happened with those users who say they never knew. But the servers or what was on them simply no longer exist.
edited to add: At the risk of trivializing what is a genuine problem you're experiencing, you do realize that in "Internet years", two months is a very long time for personal data to go without following it up or checking on it? Out on the web, things can and do change almost overnight - sometimes (like this), irreversibly. If 'it' really, really matters, you have to store 'it' locally - and back 'it' up, perhaps in a couple of ways.

I also have an issue with Opera Accounts. I had an original account using an old email address and several months ago created a new account for the android with my current one. Suddenly access was denied and I was told that it was closed due to spam. Trying to get a new password for either email yielded a message that the reset link was bad.
I have tried a half dozen times to access the forum that was indicated to clear up account issues.
I have been able to access this forum after creating an alias, but it is not the email address I wish to use.How the heck can opera clear the decks so that we can start over?
This is a great product but the management of and overhead of the accounts is sadly lacking.
And I agree that there should be a way to migrate the old email account. Opera is not a small time operation, just acting like one!

Losing mails is what you can expect after storing them on remote servers or 'the cloud'. Next time download them to your computer(s).

Exactly. Furthermore, vacating one's account for a two month period and then pretending it was somehow all-important is a bit of a stretch.

Did check your mail with a POP or IMAP client or just the webmail? If the former, the messages might be stored locally on your computer where you can import them (if necessary) into some client and use that client to upload them to a different server (via IMAP).

I've been shocked to learn just minutes before while trying to check my my.opera.com page where I uploaded a lot of mobiles live and many photo albums that the site closed on 3 March! Nobody sent me any notice so far. How can I get access to my stuff to download them. I started mobile blogging there and posted more that 2000 pictures which didn't have another copy since they were captured and posted immediately live onto the site! I want my property back!

Opera should have a backup shouldn't have they?
They probably had when the service was running. Now that the service has ended, all its stuff may has been trashed.
How did they think we'd agree with this kind of conduct?
The Terms of Service said that they could end any services anytime. They gave the users about four months to get a backup of their blogs, files and so on which was enough time.

You must have the original photos that you used to post them on your MyOpera blog ?. After all, My Opera was a blogging, community interaction and picture sharing site, not a file backup service.

I am in the same boat as a lot of folks. I placed a lot of photos of key significant events on My Opera and they are all lost. And I don't remember one email about the site closing , or I'd have retrieved everything. (I trawled ALL my emails a moment ago and found Nada about a closure.) As incredibly naive as it sounds, it never dawned on me for one minute that that information would just be dumped.
I tend to use Facebook now for sharing photographs with friends but as big as that company is now, the experiences I had with My Opera have made me Uber Cautious. I keep everything on an external hard drive AND an old windows XP computer.

Hey! I always keep;) (don't tell anybody!)
Mails there were. What caused you couldn't find any, I don't know. However, there are three such possibilities I can think of right away:- you could change your reg email and then forgot it;
- you didn't, but occasionally there was a glitch at your mail service, or (could be a glitch also) you could change the cleaning settings for your spam folder (or such) and that letter (those letters) happened to veer there...
- I don't know if it could be a case - nobody actively participating in the Forums complained about non-receiving such letters - still we couldn't rule something like that out either, or a mishap of sorts.
Now, your photos do most probably reside backed up alright in the web archives. In a short time I used the Google caches, though now you could need to resort to the archive guys shared links to above here.
