Before I begin, I'm guessing this may be an issue due to my current experiments into addons which block page elements, and various cookie activity.
If that's the case, youtube (google) is very allergic to the concept. So much so, that youtube can't make an appearance in my opera browser,
on opera, all sites connect. But with youtube, it is as though I'm offline.
Everything is fine on firefox. But I've always prefered Opera's video experience, and VPN for political, and current affairs, and a bit of naughty..

I'll try disabling CookieBlock and PopUpOff, since those are the only obvious additions to my Opera that coincide with this lack of the rabbithole of youtube.

I just thought I'd write this in case any one else is getting this phenomenon, and we can build a list of what, if any, addons are causing it, or otherwise find the cure.
I just tried disabing both of the mentioned extensions.
      Still getting:
      ''This site can’t be reached
The web page at https://www.youtube.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

      ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED''

cotton pickin tarnation! I can't think of a less-than-15-characters-long tag for ''youtube won't connect to opera''

I've found various advice sites reviewing such phenomenoms

I'll try their mutual advice out in the morning.
but, for tonight, farewell youtube, and all who sailed in you!

Any difference in a test standalone installation?

With DNS over HTTPS enabled at the URL opera://settings/system?

              1. Has the error-message problem always been present with Opera when visiting Youtube, or did it just begin recently?
              2. Do you always use Opera via its VPN service?
              3. Can your Opera installation access YouTube without using its VPN?

As a background observation, Youtube has been increasingly fighting ad-blocking lately and has been rotating its anti-user-blocking mechanisms as a countermeasure over recent weeks. As a result, anything that interferes with those analytic mechanisms for detecting and refusing user ad-blocking will cause Youtube problems. However, those kinds of responses normally result in a message that Youtube requires users not to employ ad-blocking at their site. What you're seeing more likely involves something else as a cause.

I use Opera for free movies, so always via vpn.
But, rarely use it for youtube.
But, it has never been a problem till recently (the past week).
With vpn off, youtube loads fine. But, I use Opera because it has free vpn! So, I'll stick to using Opera for movie streaming/vpn, and firefox for all my run-a-day stuff as per usual

There is a new / old problem.

Youtube and Opera hat each other since my last update.

Opera is blocking ads on Youtube

I have placed Youtube on the manage exceptions list

Please help, else I have to use Firefox

@bernardj6122 Your issue is exactly the same being originally being discussed in this topic?

@BigBobAgg It really does sound like it could be an issue with the add-ons blocking elements or cookie settings, especially since YouTube is known to be quite picky with anything interfering with its scripts. The fact that everything works on Firefox definitely points to Opera-specific configurations, maybe a conflict with the VPN as well.

I’d suggest checking if the VPN settings in Opera are affecting specific regions or if any browser-level proxy settings are in place. Also, clearing the cache and cookies related to YouTube might help reset things.

Hopefully, we can narrow down the culprit and get back to the endless rabbit hole of YouTube videos soon!
