@flaviu2 There is couple ways to disable that.
-
Go to Opera GX settings -> Easy setup -> Features -> Splash screen on startup (off).
-
Opera://flags -> #opera-one-introduction -> Disabled
-
Go to Opera:about -> copy opera install folder location -> find current version -> rename operagxsplash.exe file or remove it.
Not sure which Opera browser use, but atleast Opera GX that splash screen comes only after update. Opera One not sure theres might be still bug so it show everytime when open browser even its turned off.

Almost seems like there's a bug where the splash screen was supposed to show up Once, then go away, like in the past But it isn't going away.
I tried looking for "operagxsplash.exe" as suggested, but realized by accident it should be "opera_gx_splash.exe". I just deleted it and will reboot... stay tuned...
Update: ok, So Far that works... no splash screen and audio!

Other ways didn't work for me.
I was only able to avoid the splash by deleting "opera_gx_splash.exe".
I'm really disappointed; as a long-time IT consultant (and Opera user) I would like to know who made that strange choice. -

If you've disabled the splash screen option in Opera GX settings but still encounter it, you can try the following steps:
Check for Updates: Make sure your Opera GX browser is up to date. Sometimes, updates can address such issues.
Clear Cache and Cookies: Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can resolve various issues. Go to Opera GX settings, find the "Privacy & Security" section, and then select "Clear browsing data." Choose the time range and select "Clear data."
Extensions: Some browser extensions may interfere with settings. Try disabling or temporarily removing extensions to see if that resolves the issue.
Reset Opera Settings: If the problem persists, you can reset your Opera GX settings. Go to Opera GX settings, navigate to "Advanced," and then select "Restore settings to their original defaults."
Reinstall Opera GX: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling and reinstalling Opera GX. Make sure to back up your bookmarks and important data before doing so.
After trying these steps, restart Opera GX, and the splash screen issue should hopefully be resolved.

@makezu said in Can't disable splash screen:
Opera://flags -> #opera-one-introduction -> Disabled
I have just applied this. Hope it works.
I recommend everyone send feedback to Opera to add a standard option to disable the splash screen.

I agree, but do they listen to us? I don't think so. For instance, look how thick is tabs+address bar area, and they received a lot of complains about that, did they do something? No.
Its first time when Opera has a untidy look and feel than Edge, and no one cares ... -

Guess what? Disabling #opera-one-introduction at opera://flags/ did not get rid of the annoying time-wasting splash screen that now appears at the start of each new version.

@chawke Unfortunately, this does not work. Still plays the splash screen with sound after update of the browser.
