      How do I recover my Stash and my Speed Dial after the most recent update deleted them?

        This problem is a good reason for you to have made a backup copy of your profile. If you had that, you'd be in better shape.

        In terms of your problem, I know I'd be thinking (if it had happened to me), maybe I should try to go back to Opera 21 to see if it restores the Stash and Speed Dial. First, make a backup of your data first. http://help.opera.com/opera/Windows/1432/en/solutions.html#backup

        Now, you need to close Opera before you fiddle with your files. In the root installation of Opera 22, you should still have the Opera 21 folder with the execution file there. In Windows 7, I think it's C:\program files (x86)\Opera, and you should see in it, the folder for Opera 22 and the folder for Opera 21. I believe you should delete the Opera 22 folder, and then in Opera 21 try to open the installer.exe file. (If you don't have Windows 7, you'd have to find that "root" location for Opera in your Operating system).

        I believe this is how you go back. The idea is is see if reinstalling Opera 21 somehow picks up your Stash and Speed Dial. If it doesn't, you can still easily update back to Opera 22. And if the Stash and Speed Dial are restored, whoah, then I'd immediately copy the whole Opera 21 profile into a separate location (maybe a flash drive), update to Opera 22, and if the Speed Dial and Stash are lost, you can copy the critical files from the copied profile into the Opera 22 profile.

          Which update?

          Do you have synchronization enabled? If so, maybe there is a chance to recover SD and Stash.

            @leocg

            I just checked for myself in Opera:Flags , and it was disabled. So "disabled" is the default setting. Are you saying, that after-the-fact one could go into Opera:Flags, enable synchronization, and somehow save the day? Or did one have to have had it set as enabled before the update, for the feature to help? I'm not sure what that synchronization feature does? Is synchronization designed to restore data from earlier installations of Opera Blink in case there's a mess-up?

            Do you think going back to Opera 21 has any merit?

              When the flag is enabled Opera starts syncing SD, Stash and custom searches so those itens will be added to new installs (with sync enabled). But it won't recover what was lost before the flag is enabled.

              It just helps the user to sync some settings between two or more Opera Installations. So if you add a new SD it will be added to all yours Operas. Sync (as of Link) are not backup features.

                The default should be synchronization enabled, not disabled as they have seem to have it. In any event, i enabled mine.

                  Извините не знаю английского, поэтому наобум напишу. Поставил новую версию браузера опера, сказанно что можно синхронизировать с сервером, создав учетную запись и прочее. Создал, потом случилось так что нужно было переустановить операционную систему, все переустановил. Так же поставил браузер Опера. вошел в свою учётную запись, думал что синхронизируется. Ничего не произошло и как потом выяснил нужно нажимать в левом нижнем углу облако, а этого облака в ообще нет в моей версии браузера а версия 22.0.1471.50 - Используется обновленная версия Opera, что делать и где искать это облако? и вообще как его синхронизировать....

                    It sounds like gross37 had to reinstall his Operating system (I use Google translate ;))))

                    and since he put Opera back in, wants to sync to his settings. Wants to know where the cloud is so that he can accomplish the sync. If he had sync enabled in Opera:flags (I don't know if he did) , and logged into his Opera account with name and password, perhaps then the sync would happen and would restore speed dial and other data?

                    I've never tried this experimental feature.

                      Probably when this feature is considered ready. ATM it's on development stage.

                          @gross27:
                          Synchronisation is an experimental feature so far. You can activate it via flags, opera://flags/#sync , then restart Opera, and the Sync menu will appear. Also, it is a good practice to regularly backup the profile.

                          [RU] Синхронизация пока является экспериментальной возможностью. Её надо активировать в opera://flags/#sync и перезапустить Оперу. В меню появится пункт Синхронизация - именно через него запускается процесс синхронизации, а не просто через вход на сайте Оперы. Также хорошо бы регулярно делать резервное копирование файлов профиля (путь см. в opera:about).
