Synchronization has encountered a problem

Hi,
I get the message (see title), but what exactly the problem is, seems not clear. I am logged in, I am logged out and in, but Opera isn't happy about it. How to debug "a problem"? Any specific domains or routing the sync is trying, since I am behind some FWs, DNS, Spam filters, etc. -

@operasurfer1094952 I have the exact same problem.... Really dreadful experience and I will probably move to a different browser.

@leonardoemilian good, but I don't move. "The grass isn't green...". This can be fixed. Patience.

Hi, right now it's working again. Note that sync is using a dedicated password, not the Opera account pw.

wtf is wrong I've been using this browser for years don't want to change but every time i restart my machine i have to change 5 passwords that you were meant to remember, say something what is it? why is sync broken and when are you fixing it, very last attempt on this browser

@tonyfaso1234 remember that „one death you must die“.
The browser is good, but that sync bitch needs a separate password. Store it accordingly into your pw-manager and mark it „sync pw only“. Regards -

It's keep happening again and again. Synchronization all of a sudden breaks and yet not fixed by many many updates.

It seems that the sync is "connecting" only seconds to minutes later. I noticed the user was "logged in", but sync was showing "not sync". Some minutes later, everything is "sync" (blue shadow behind icons).
But what also is not clear is, what does "data is encrypted" mean? Does it include bookmarks?

Worst syncfeature ever built, leaves you stranded as it just won't allow you to simply sync, This feature works fine in Firefox don't know how they could have been so stupid to think this useless method up, and worse you have to first erase all your bookmarks on the server, yeah great!

Information from the field:
Notice that the sync might be "Offline" right after starting Opera. Before you reset the password or change sync settings, wait for it, be patient. Of course this behavior is less-intuitive, but I noticed it can take up to some minutes for the account indicating "Data is synchronized" after cold Opera startup (machine off for some days).
If Opera team will think sync through, also this delay could be considered.

Hey all, had the same problem. I fixed it by logging out, then logging in again then verifying my identity with the sync feature specifically. It's a little odd and not well communicated to the user but it's been working fine for me since going through the process.

@tiltedcan said in Synchronization has encountered a problem:
> It's a little odd
If you don't mind, I comment on this. IMO it is hugely odd. I happened to me just now again, too There are multiple issues with this,
i) Un-sync happens sporadic, for whatever reasons, and
ii) Users do not get informed; meanwhile, new bookmarks are added,Can anyone just confirm, the passwords are now the same? I messed with two passwords. At the end, it was the same for forums.opera.com and auth.opera.com; are they single sign-on now?
Regards

@operasurfer1094952 They have been the same for a long while, unless you have different accounts for synchronization and for the forums.

@leocg Ok, one more question:
"Synchronization has encountered a problem"
Which problem? What to do, sign out and in again? Wait a minute, a day? Restart Opera?

@lI have just had this problem recently.
After an update to my Desktop opera for windows to version 105.0.4970.29 the message "Synchronization has encountered a problem" showed on my Opera account and the log-in was removed. I logged back in, but the home page on my Amazon Fire Tablet then showed no log-in just "sync off" and the icon for "Guest".
I have logged back into the tablet and the message shows that this has been accepted but still shows "guest" icon and recommends opening an Opera account.
There is no synchronisation with any of the data I have set ie. Bookmarks, History and Speed Dials where all these used to work perfectly.
Has anyone found a way to solve this problem please?
Thanks,
Daddybear -

Latest sporadic issue out of the blue software sky:
- Sync not connected, ... happens ...
- Trying to login with User/PW from PW-Manager
- PW wrong! (what the... sure it is wrong in PW-Manager, no it is not)
- Request new PW...
- Login works (again) - but that is not the sync PW that was reset(?)
Support kindly explain what is going on. Are PW's triggered sporadically or periodically to be reset or based on some security issue?
Sincerely
