How can I disable tab mute?

psikogeek last edited byThis has been an issue since 2016. With many tabs, muting a tab is unavoidable while left mouse clicking. (because of space constraints) While this feature was in trial, I hear that it could be disabled. Now, that it is inevitable, it would be nice to be able to disable it.

trilliance last edited byI am/was new to Opera. This is sending me back to chrome. I have a lot of tabs open all the time, and when I click to another tab than the one I'm listening to, then back, it will mute it a lot of the time, and it's only in the browser, not even in yt, netflix, whatever. That sucks. I was sick of chrome but this browser is unusable the way I use a browser.

How can I disable the Tab mute feature, It just appeared after an update. To disable the Tab mute feature in Opera browser: Enter "opera://flags" in the address bar.
Find "Tab audio muting UI control" option.
 Set it to "Disabled".
Relaunch Opera to apply the changes.

Opera One(version: 100.0.4815.21)Same here. Disabling the flag (disabled by default, but I set it to an explicit disabled just for good measure) has no effect for me, not even in Opera 99 without the Opera One UI.

sunsey last edited bySolve the quest and find the space to click on to switch to minimized tab. What a great UI designers, but who the hell really cares... We just don't let you even turn off that mute off - feel the pain and our creativity

EggPlant891 last edited by@sunsey Thank you for sharing this example. This is precisely why the button is problematic for me too. I tend to have a music app in a pinned tab like yourself, but the mute button being present means that there is a very small margin that I can click to switch to the tab without accidentally muting my music. The #enable-tab-audio-mutingflag does exist, and I have set to Disabled, however the flag appears to have no effect.Opera One (version: 101.0.4843.43) Update stream: Stable System: Windows 10 64-bit Chromium version: 115.0.5790.171

Wufflers last edited byA really frustrating feature, why isn't there simply a toggle to remove this?
