Opera installs bring yet another pinned task bar icon

This happens on every machine I have Opera installed in my home. I use PatchMyPC to keep my system updated, Opera doesn't autoupdate in the background and I don't use it regularly so I'm regularly presented with a new version when PatchMyPC runs. When it gets installed there's a new Opera icon pinned to my task bar. I'm betting it's because PatchMyPC uses a fully installer, that I get, but what I don't get is the arrogance of Opera to assume that everyone wants it pinned to the task bar. Even Chrome from the most arrogant company on the planet doesn't do that. Why does Opera and why doesn't Opera autoupdate in the background like Chrome and Edge do? Leaving a system vulnerable with outdated software isn't a hot idea.

@leocg it also adds itself to the start up group, again, No Other browser does this. The arrogance of Opera's developers never ceases to amaze me. Even Chrome doesn't do this once you turn it off the first time.

@terabytenet There is a setting in the installer to start Opera when the system starts, just disable it when you need to install Opera again.
Also, in Opera's settings page there is an option to enable/disable Opera starting with the OS.

@terabytenet Open the Windows Task Scheduler, select the Task Scheduler Library and look in the list of tasks in the right-hand pane. You should see an update task for Opera and Opera's browser assistant. You should see that Opera checks for daily at a certain time and checks for updates on Windows startup or when logging into your user account depending on whether you installed Opera for all users or just the current user. Opera also triggers the task when you start Opera up.
So, it will update, but if you stay logged into your user account, don't run Opera that much, and don't restart your computer that much, it might take longer for you to receive an update.
When you start Opera though, you can wait 30 seconds, goto the URL
opera://aboutand check for updates if you want.Perhaps PatchMyPC disables Opera's update tasks.

Does it have an option to specify command-line arguments for the installer? If so, you can tell it to pass
-startmenushortcut=0 --pintotaskbar=0 --desktopshortcut=0 --setdefaultbrowser=0 --run-at-startup=0(0=false, 1=true, adjust how you like) to the installer.I would avoid having anything else update Opera though. It's likely to break something. Example.
