      Hello,

There are some situation when Off-Road mode is not needed. For example, if it is special already optimized mobile site version. For example, there is a full version of the site http://www.opera.com/, and there is a mobile version of the site http://m.opera.com/. I assume that the mobile version of the site is already optimized for mobile devices and not required off-road mode. May be there is some META tags or something else that allow site to say Opera browser to not use off-road mode. Do you have any comments about this?

      With best regards,
      Aleksandrs

And another one question. Is it possible for a html page in a browser (on a client side) to check that it is running on off-road mode?

I don't know, but how would Opera know before it loads the page? Sorry, but doesn't make sense. As far as I know secure sites don't use Off-road mode (or at least, they didn't use Turbo), other than that you're expecting the browser to know the contents of the page before it loads it.

I don't get the relation between the two things. Afaik off-road mode is to help the user spending less data and saving money and not something to optimize web pages to mobile devices.

On my desktop, if I'm on pages that are not graphics heavy, it loads the page faster. Even though I don't have a data limitation problem, it seems that Off-Road mode is good if I just like faster page loads. For example, I find the forum loads quicker in Off-Road mode.

Opera Turbo (Off-Road-Mode doesn't exist anymore) just compresses data. It also delivers low-resolution versions of page's images and thus saves bandwidth and / or time.
It has nothing to do with mobile sites.

There's a way. If your site connection is via HTTPS Turbo/Off-road's servers won't be enabled on it. AFAIK it won't touch PNG images too.

There's no point on imposing that limitation to the visitors of your site, as Turbo/Off-road won't change any code nor request the mobile version of it, only save data by compressing it.
