How do I re-import Opera 12 bookmarks into Opera 20?

I'm setting up a new PC and have installed both Opera 12.16 and Opera 20 side-by-side (because Opera 20 can't handle the thousands of bookmarks I have).
Now I want to import some of my bookmarks from Opera 12 into 20, just the few I have displayed in the Opera 12 personal bar. When I go to Opera > More tools > Bookmark importer, however, I find it greyed out. I assume this is because I installed Opera 20 before I copied across my Opera 12 bookmarks from my old PC.
How can I let Opera 20 know there are now Opera 12 bookmarks to import?

Have you installed Opera 12.16 on its default folders, including the profile one? It's the 32 bit version?
Opera should have asked you about importing your Presto profile.
Well, you can start Opera 20 with "--presto-small-prefs-dir=ROAMING_PROFILE_DIR" (without the quotes and with the correct path to your Opera Presto profile) and it should enable bookmarks importer. Note that you may lost your current Opera Blink profile.

Excellent, worked perfectly, thank you.
I take it then, that I can't re-import bookmarks from 12 into 20 if I want to keep my 20 profile?
I'm probably using 20 now more than 12 (nicer browsing experience) but I still maintain my bookmarks in 12 so I would like to be able to re-import my 12 bookmarks into 20 on a regular basis.

Hi Simontewsg, for that purpose you can try to use the "Transmute" for Windows, which I mentioned here. -

Open a command prompt (I do it by opening the Run window and typing "cmd", without the quotes);
In the command prompt change directory to the Opera application folder (on my x64 computer this is C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera);
Then, in the command prompt type "launcher --presto-small-prefs-dir={ROAMING_PROFILE_DIR}", without the quotes, replacing {ROAMING_PROFILE_DIR} with the folder that contains your Opera 12 profile (ie the folder that contains your Opera 12 bookmarks.adr). For me that folder was C:\Users{MY USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera.
This will launch Opera 20, replacing the profile with the converted Opera 12 one.
