Why can't Opera keep itself up to date with Chromium? They always have to hold off an update until a certain time of the week or a release cycle, and very often not using the latest Chromium version available for that particular version.

        Please like Brave browser.

@iosaddict-0 One of the reasons is that Opera isn't just a skin for Chromium, it has its own UI

Also, they need to check if the intake doesn't mess with something before releasing a build with it.

@leocg this doesn't justify it fully. If it's a major version update like 107 -> 108, maybe, but a minor Chromium update with security fixes breaking Opera's UI, then it's really poor implementation from their part. They often release a stable update on a Thursday and not any other days, it suggests that they follow a rather strict routine than being flexible with incorporating updates.

I love Opera's UI that's why it's my preferred browser, but with Chromium browsers being the most popular browsers out there, I feel like it's increasingly risky if security updates aren't prompt. I'm seriously consider switching to Firefox. I just hope the Opera Desktop team listen.

@iosaddict-0 On every Chromium intake they (probably) need to do all the changes in the code needed for things to works as should, do tests, etc. We shouldn't underestimate the problems that a intake can cause.

Of course the should have specific days for releases, that's how serious companies work, but if they realize that an update should be released in a different day, they will do it.
