Passwords messed up

@burnout426 FWIW, I tested sync between 2 desktop Operas and Sync handles multiple password/account entries for the same site/URL no problem. So, it's supported in general. Still might be a bug with it though. Just not sure how to trigger it.

I have the same problem all of the passwords on the same domain change to the last one when you click on update the password. Now all my gmail acounts have the same passwords assigned to them. Opera needs to answer to this.

@xpatze85x Have you been making use of the "update password" button too?
If so, I'm wondering if the update button overwrites the password for all the entries for that domain where it's not really a sync issue that's causing it. You could probably test in Chrome and see if the same thing happens.

Interesting. I'm not seeing any fixes for passwords in the Opera changelog. Not seeing any password fixes in the Chromium changelog either.

@afshinism When do you get the "Update Password?" dialog/bar? Does it happen every time you sign in with a different account on the same site?

@burnout426 Or, just when you change your password for the account on the site and then try to log in with that new password in Opera?
It's just when logging in with the new password for me, but wanted to double check.
Also, are you doing the update button on desktop or is there one on mobile that you're tapping?

@burnout426 This still keeps happening it really messed up my life, when I click on update in desktop it replaces all passwords of the same domain.

@afshinism I tried doing exactly that and couldn't reproduce. After clicking the update button, only the password for that particular entry on that domain gets updated. The other entries for that domain keep their passwords as they were. Same with or without Sync enabled. I believe you of course. I just can't trigger it (with 2 desktop Operas synced. Not able to try with desktop Opera and Android Opera synced though).
Can you log out of Sync on mobile Opera, then, change the passwords for one of the accounts, log into it on desktop Opera with the new password, and click update to see if it still changes all passwords for all accounts on that domain?
If it still happen again, can you try again with Opera desktop logged out of Sync too?

@afshinism I have the same problem. With sync on all my passwords of the same domain messed up! I have already repair-replace all the wrong passwords, but today the problem appears again!

I remove the synced data and reinstalled the opera, it seems to be fixed but now it says no password is synced so I am just waiting to see what will happen.

This is unbelievable & not acceptable. All my passwords now messed up. A big «thank you» to the Opera devs.
Insane... -

Passwords won't sync, and when asked to confirm identity it asks for a password I don't remember putting in. I've been logged into Opera through my Gmail this whole time, and the password I set for my Gmail does not work here. I've tried logging out and clicking on forgot password, but no email has ever been sent to me.

this is complete a messed up issue, I feel compete insecure about it! all my devices synced with wrong passwords. The problem only on passwords that has the same URL but used different username but all passwords are same .
I was lucky that just previous day I had manual export . Really that changed my world.

I just found out that I have exactly the same issue only using Android devices Opera and not using update passwords because I didn't change any of them. Pw for same domain all changed to same pw and that's something opera did on it's own . 4 Google accounts and two Instagram have same pw. This is insane .

@xpatze85x said in Passwords messed up:
Hello, i've noticed that since about 2 days my synced passwords are all messed up! Most of the Passwords (auto fill) i've tried don't work anymore as they've been messed up with other passwords!
I'm using the latest version of opera on windows 10+11 and Android with Opera Sync enabled!
Does anyone else have a similar problem? is there a way to restore them?

I have repaired my passwords 3-4 times but opera still changes all passwords with the same url! How much longer to wait for the fix, before we go for another browser? ??

@anakioski Are you using Opera Sync too or does it happen without Sync also?
