I am very wondering why a very famous and popular browser like opera
doesn't support ((webp format)) which is an image display format. I use its ios version on my iphone but still after updates A lot, the ability to support the webp format
has not been added to Opera ios.Today I happily downloaded the latest version, but there was nothing like before.
((( Why don't you add ((webp photo format ))support to opera for iphone, ios, ?!!!!!! This is not acceptable at all for a big browser like opera....
Why? .......

@pol68487 Does it work in Safari?
Apple requires all browsers on IOS use Apple's Webkit rendering engine (the one Safari uses) so any supported formats should be the same on all IOS browsers. On other platforms, Opera would be based on Blink (Google's rendering engine) and thus support the same formats Chrome does. Including webp.

@sgunhouse i have iphone 5s I can’t either install google chrome nor firefox , because they don’t support ios below 13 , and i have ios 12.5.5 so what should i do ?
I didn’t ever install google chrome , if i had , now the App Store would let me install the last version compatible to my ios , but now i cant , either i had an apple id that has installed google chrome , and i log in with that apple id and can get the last compatible version of chrome, but now i can do nothing .....

@pol68487 I wanted to check if the problem also happened on Android and, specifically, in Opera Touch.
Since it's not the case, the issue can be a limitation of WebKit and/or IOS or it could be that you are just using an old version that doesn't support it yet.
It would be interesting if you could test in the IOS default browser (Safari?) and also in other versions of WebKit and IOS.

Images on tank.ir load in regular Opera 3.3.5 on iOS 16. Everything works fine in Safari also.
Looking on the net, it looks like webp support wasn't added until iOS/Safari 14.
