Select multiple tabs and drag to a new window

It's weird this elementary function doesn't work.
I select multiple tabs then right click and "save tabs as dial folder" then "open in new window".But it is not for everyday using as I am accustomed.

Plus one for this from me.
What I find odd is that you can ctrl/shift + select multiple tabs, the UI does support this, yet you can't do anything with them!
Please add!

I was just about to post a similar thread/question. Please dev team @Opera do something about this. I ran into multiple occasions now where I wanted this functionality, this is something one would expect from a comprehensive browser as Opera.
Functionality like:- Select tabs by holding down shift and drag them loose; or
- Select tabs by holding down shift and have a right click option 'move to new window'.
Is something that would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

It's so weird that this is still not possible. Even for workspaces there's the option to select mutliple tabs and send them to a workspace, but not with new windows? Where's the logic in this?

This one, obviously really-good-feature is still not implemented in Opera. There are several articles on the web about using selecting and dragging groups of tabs - or saving groups of tabs to a bookmark folder - but in every case Opera was not on the list in the how-to article. (An example: https://www.makeuseof.com/bookmark-all-tabs-chrome-firefox-edge-brave-safari/) I really like Opera but the one most annoying thing missing in Opera is the ability to select groups of tabs to bookmark into a single folder (and, of course, subsequently dragging bookmark folders around at will later which Opera DOES support). Without this one bookmark function I am going to, sadly, have to pass on further use of Opera. Since the original post on this topic was way back in 2017, maybe I will re-visit Opera every few years to see if the function has been implemented or not.

@sgunhouse Would not select, drag and drop multiple tabs to new window be an easy feature for Opera to implement?
We can do this with one tab, why not a selection of more?
Needing to save as Speed Dial Folder for moving tabs to a new windows is a large workaround.

Yes, it should be easy.

I consider it unfinished work on the handling of tab selections. As in, the tab-selection feature is not complete yet because of this and work on it stalled before completion. But, that's my opinion.

I really can't believe this feature still hasn't been integrated in Opera. Like others have noted, I am really struggling to continue working in this browser without this fundamental function.
I did want to add a solution that has been working for me. I tested out several Chrome extensions, and this one ("Move tabs between windows", linked below) is the only one I have found so far that actually works in Opera for moving multiple tabs at a time between open windows. I was specifically looking for an extension that moved tabs to other open windows, rather than just moving them all to a new window. To use this extension, select all the tab you need moved (holding down the CTRL/CMD as you select tabs for multi-select). Then press the extension in the toolbar, and open the window you would like the tabs moved to. After changing focus to the desired destination window, the tabs should appear in that window.
Unfortunately, this extension still doesn't replace the option to drag and drop tabs like normal, especially if you are simply trying to rearrange tabs within the active window (like some users note on here: https://forums.opera.com/topic/34453/suggestion-able-to-select-multiple-tabs-at-once-and-move-the-all-together/9). I really like using Opera and would hate to leave just because of this, so please add this feature!

I had been using a Chrome extension called "Tab Scissors" as a work around to this lack of functionality in Opera, but that extension no longer exists, and I haven't been able to find a comparable extension. The lack of ability to move multiple tabs to a new window seriously limits the usability of Opera. I don't want to switch to another browser--there is much that I like about Opera--but I just can't keep using it the way that it is.

@mrsomewhere The Tab Scissors extension is still available at https://www.crx4chrome.com/crx/75791/ (the "Download Crx File from Crx4Chrome" link at the bottom of the page). I extracted the CRX file and things look okay in general. But, maybe there's a reason it was removed from the Chrome webstore.

New user here migrating from Brave. The absence of this feature actually surprised me, and to see that people have been noting its absence and requesting its integration for nearly five years to no avail does not inspire confidence.

I migrated from Chrome about a month ago and the lack of tab organization in Opera is my biggest complaint. Ridiculous that you can select multiple tabs for next-to-no reason.
This is going to be the thing that drives me back to Chrome. 5 years and still this parity feature is unimplemented? Disgraceful, but I guess you get what you pay for.

It's also super weird, that even with the new "islands" feature it's not possible to drag and drop an island into a new window, still only single tabs and nothing else.

@panicpug it really is totally weird.
I wonder if this will ever be implemented and what the reason is it has not been implemented yet.
Also I don't get it why we cant create tab-groups additionally to Workplaces, because with implementing tab-groups it would be also technically much more easier to implement this feature by just simply right click on the marked/selected tabs and send them to a specific tab-group.
