I have Opera 12.14 x86 and Win7 x64. In opera:plugins there is a path to a Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins). I don't know if this plugin can be used by Opera but I already have VLC plugin that can handle wmv files so I want to remove the firefox path from Opera. The problem is everytime I delete the path from opera:config and/or operaprefs.ini it always come back. I can't seem to get rid of it.

FYI I have my Opera profile in a different location on another hard drive.

Anyone know why I can't remove this path and how I can do it?

Not sure but i think Opera finds it automatically. You can disable the plugin if you don't want Opera to use it.

Yea I already have it disabled. I'd like to remove it since I don't need to use it. Why would Opera use another browser's plugins anyways?

Opera Presto uses Npapi (or something like this) plugins.

Opera would use another browser's plugins so that you don't need to have several copies on your system, of course.

So what happens if you delete those plugins on the other browser or delete the browser all together? It doesn't seem like a good idea to rely on another program's files.

The Opera browser would fail to find or run the now-deleted plug-in, and you'd have to go obtain another one for Opera. Just as you'd do anyway if each browser needed its own copy of plug-ins.
