When I visit a web page such "https://www.analog.com/media/cn/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ada4099-1_cn.pdf" in the old version such as 85.0.4341.18. All things OK. But the newer version such as 87.0.4390.45 fails to display the corrent cotents of the pdf file, instead it dispaly something like "%PDF-1.4% ....Creator (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0" which is the txt character of the file. When I drag a local pdf file to opera, it still cannot show the correct cotent.

@leocg So what maybe the reason to cause the problerm? I tried to uninstall the new version of opera, and install the old version , it works fine. But when I reinstalled the newer version, the problerm comes back again. Also what I found is that the 85.0.4341.18 is the last version which works well for me, any newer version can not show pdf correcttly.
But today the old version opera insists to notice me to "Get the latest security update", and I can not stop it. If there are some methods to stop this warning, so I can use the old version continuely? I have deleted the file "opera_autoupdate.exe"

@wuj Did you do all the steps at https://forums.opera.com/topic/43601/instructions-on-posting-about-problems-in-opera-for-windows/1?

@leocg Yes, I did all the things like in the "https://forums.opera.com/topic/43601/instructions-on-posting-about-problems-in-opera-for-windows/2", but it still can not show pdf file correcttly.
My OS is windows 10 21H2 64 bit, the ver of opera is 87.0.4390.45.
The problerm web page link is "https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/adl5580.pdf".
The screen-shot of the problerm is
BTW, when I drop a local pdf file to opera, it also can not show it's content correcttly.
But as I mentioned before, when I install the old ver 85.0.4341.18 of opera, it did well all about those pdf files. -

On the virtual machine the opera is the first time to be installed, so it should be a clean installtion.

@wuj Go to https://www.opera.com/computer/portable, download Opera Portable and run it without any changes. Then, check if you can open PDFs with it.

@wuj Long shot. as this should affect all browsers... are you subject to Group Policy Objects? We've encountered odd behaviors with pdf files and GPOs via VPN. If so, find the GPO .xml file and delete it. Reboot and try again. The .xml file may even be a legacy file from a previous VPN connection.
The GPO file may include something like this:
<Association Identifier=".pdf" ProgId="AcroExch.Document.DC" ApplicationName="Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" />
Do you have a pdf reader installed?

@leocg Sorry, the download link in https://www.opera.com/computer/portable is not a portable version, it needs to install before running. I compared the download file, it is same as the version from https://download.opera.com/download/get/?partner=www&opsys=Windows&arch=x64.

@888larson I did not use VPN to visit the web, but directly. As you mentioned if the reason is due to the VPN, then all browsers should be affected, but the edge is OK as the attachment.
I have acrobat installed in my computer to read the pdf files, and it works fine. -

Are you sure this is the portable version? The Help->about opera menu screen shot is:
And it still fails to open the pdf file, the screen shot is:

@leocg I downloaded opera just from https://www.opera.com/computer/portable, and ran it without any changes. But I do not think that web address give me a portable version opera, maybe that is another bug of the website. Leocg, I think you can try to download from https://www.opera.com/computer/portable to tell that. If it was possible, will you please give me a directly URL to download the portable version opera. My OS is Win 10.
