@danikastanley That's normal, it's probably just Opera promoting a partner site.

Hello. This morning I discover in my fast access a link as a favorite from/about the Unicef!
How can you explain that, please? -

Hi, I've just switched to Opera due to ongoing problems with the very resource-heavy Firefox but with just one tab open in my Windows 10 version of Opera, task manager shows 13 incidences of Opera processes open and running! This is actually worse than Firefox was..... What is Opera doing to and with my PC that is beyond just giving me access to the internet?
Thanks in advance for your views

Hi!
I syncronized my browser data, and I reinstalled my pc. How can i resync the data on the reinstalled pc? My usual method is that I copy the opera folder from the app local and roaming folders and the copy them back when the installation is done, but this time it won't copy everything back.
How can i get back those things from the cloud? Can someone help me?
Thanks! -

@leocg When I log in to sync, it syncs my new installation and it replaces the old one. I tried it and I lost all my opened tabs from before the reinstall. I want to retriev the old data not replace it.

@goultysoul I understood that you had no data in the new install.

@leocg I can see my synced data when I log in, I just can't retriev it, just overwrite it.

@goultysoul Can you see them when you click on the tabs icon in sidebar?
-

@leocg No. I only see them when i log in to opera.com. and there is a menu for "See your syncronized data".

@goultysoul Are you logged in to Sync in the new installation? Not the site but the service.

I'm trying to add various search engines to use as a default search engine. I've added Dogpile, Swisscows, etc, but I cannot find a way to make that the default browser. All I see for options are the biased search engines I want to avoid - Google, Bing, etc. Is there some trick to getting Opera to set a default search engine I actually want to use?

@looking4help Only pre-defined search engines can be set as the default one.

This is one of those topics that may have to be approached "from both sides", i.e., from the Opera side and the Startpage side.
I am trying to make Startpage my default search engine. I add it to the list of search engines, but, the option to make it default is greyed out.
Any thoughts?
Latest version of Opera Version:84.0.4316.31 (x86_64).
Mac Pro running OS 10.14.6.
Thanks.

It looks like Opera is not going to be my go to browser. Thanks anyway. Best regards, wnlewis

For years now every so often I've noticed websites are somehow adding themselves to my speed dial. For instance, just 10 minutes ago I noticed that "Unicef: something, something ukraine" has been added to my speed dial; never visited it before or even googled Ukraine on this computer.
What gives? Is there an option somewhere to turn this stuff off? It's become irritating enough that if I can't stop this from happening I'll most likely find a new browser, as much as I enjoy Opera.
