I think that just goes to show what power Google wields. It seems to have stopped now, but for a while there whenever I visited a Google website in Opera, Firefox, IE, or another non-Chrome browser, it displayed a notice about "upgrading" to Chrome. There's yet another flip-side to that popularity coin: there's already plenty of Chromium browsers a dime a dozen. I'm still hoping that Opera will be the Chromium browser I'll actually want to use, but it's not looking that way yet. Oh well, we'll see how it looks in half a year from now.

That's pretty much my own feeling. There's just something about Google that has a "creep" factor. Maybe it's their cavalier attitude about our privacy... I don't know. But I'm reluctant to adopt Google's Chrome as my default browser. Who can say what Opera's offering will be.

Maybe, but in a different way. And was about it that iwas talking: the way you "bookmark" a page will/is changing imho. Instead of, i.e., you need to put a page into "folder 1/Subfolder 2/SubSubFolder 3" and into "Folder5/Subfolder7/SubSubFolder11" you would just create two or three "tags" for it.

Well, if i had to go back to the same single page very often then maybe a bookmark would be more helpful. However in this case i think i would prefer to use a Speed Dial.

Great, so why was it announced that A) they will be working on getting bookmarks back/in asap, 😎 that they will be back in Version 18, etc???

That is exactly the kind of doubletalk & contradiction that is all over this forum, mainly because a few massive posters have posted what were nothing more than their personal speculations, yet stated as if they were known facts, sometimes even berating others for not knowing of them, or not so willing to accept them as fact, etc., thus some of us get frustrated and do not become fans of some of these arrogant, yet contradictory, "volunteers".

Many of us have been saying it would be nice if certain M2 innovations like filters made their way into e.g. bookmarks for over a decade. Filters could also be used as merely a simplistic tagging system, but of course a simplistic tagging system would improve on filters as well. For instance, you could make a filter that says "show things that are tagged university, linux, and language." Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Opera is interested in taking bookmarks to the obvious next level.

They said bookmarks are a priority, but nothing about a specific version. However, with what is essentially the Chromium bookmarks bar with a few minor changes finally making its way into a sort of stable feature half a year later, that doesn't sound like much of a priority to me.

They said they would be bringing bokmarks back and they are already doing it through the bookmarks bar. You should hava noticed that they never mentioned any dates and or versions for bookmarks to come back neither how they would come back.

Nor have they ever in the past. It's always been "when it's done" or something to that effect.

Yep, "When It's Ready" was a very famous "slogan" here.

Yep, something like that would be good. I was thinking of something like the "you don't need to sort your messages" concept of M2, maybe an option to index a page so you could find it just by searching for a few words.

Thanks. I knew "WID" didn't look right, but couldn't think of the right version.

                        That could be interesting.
