General Questions About Opera GX Topic

Question 1: Is Opera GX owned by Google?
Question 2: Does Opera GX track you like Google
-

@googlechromefan No, and no. There are some options to allow some tracking for either statistical purposes (which features most people actually use) or to tailor the (optional) news to your interest, but they are easy enough to turn off.

How many users does GX have? is there a website to check?
All websites just show ''Opera''

@anothermemberofsociety Opera could tell you number of downloads but that can't tell you if they uninstalled it and went back to their old browser. Some sort of survey would be required.

@anothermemberofsociety Try checking https://investor.opera.com/

@leocg Oh i see, but it shows Opera in general, not exclusively to GX
-
leocg Moderator Volunteer last edited by
@anothermemberofsociety Don't look just in the main page, check the other ones, the reports.

@anothermemberofsociety Just for curiosity, are you planning to invest on Opera's stocks or make business with them? I'm asking because the number of downloads/users are relevant only on those two situations.

@leocg I see that but I don't know how to tell if it is up to the requirements.

Is Opera GX at Stable Release or Early Access? Early Access is shown in program while "Stable Release" is shown when I use uninstaller program.
-

@hakuteiken It's stable. As far as I know, early access was used only in the beginning when GX was in a pre-release.

I come from Microsoft Edge, so transitioning to Opera GX for the last few days has been kind of confusing and disappointing to me.
What I miss from edge is:
-
Dragging tabs from one to another instance doesn't seem to be as snappy as on Edge, there, the tabs automatically snapped to the other instance I was targeting, here, it seems as if the detection radius near the spot where you place tabs into is smaller, so it takes a lot longer and you need to be still near the area to add the given tab to the other instance.
-
I also hate Chromecast and I feel like it's the worst thing to ever happen to humanity, or among the worst things anyway. I click it all the time - especially on YouTube... Is there a way to disable that, just like I did when I was using Edge?

Guys, so I had to format my PC because of a fuck up with the w11 TPM 2.0 when switching CPUs, and that lost me all my speed dials. I used those for everything, it was like most people's bookmarks/favorites. So many websites and folders saved and labelled there. But I just couldn't get them back, I had a back up of all %appdata% opera gx folders, and those didn't contain my speed dials. And account Sync also didn't work, actually sync'ed nothing. Is there a way?
