[Solved]The combined Address Search bar is no longer working

@leocg , thanks for working on it. I have to think it's a newly introduced bug of some kind, since several of us are now reporting it. Further info: if I type into the address/search bar in an existing tab and hit Enter, it doesn't do anything but reload the existing page, reinserting its address into the bar.

Yeah it's frustrating because it's a problem that seems to happen after several minutes to hours of use. Once it happens, if I open a new tab, type in a website URL and hit enter, nothing happens.
In my limited experimenting I've done, I've noticed that if I open a new tab, type in a URL, say, Google.com for example, switch to a different tab, and then switch back to the tab I was typing the URL in, and THEN hit enter, it will navigate to google. But the problem still persists, it doesn't fix it. Additionally if you then try to go from google.com to youtube.com using the same trick (type in URL, don't hit enter, switch to a different tab, then switch back), it will begin to navigate...but won't actually go anywhere.
Curiously I've noticed if I Ctrl-N and open a new window, the address bar in the new Opera window works perfectly fine and behaves as expected, but the address bar on the old Opera window still doesn't work.

I've been using Opera for years. At least 15.And i have never had any issues until this started to happen. You can't search anything in the address bar.If i open a new tab, i still can't use it. Sometimes, if i close the browser, it would work..for like a tab or 2, and then this bs starts all over again.
Closing the browser every time it goes crazy it`s not an option , i have usually 10+ tabs open that i use.
I thought updating the browser to the latest version would fix this issue. It did not.
So help !? -

Thanks, @liero ! I appreciate your detailed testing, and I can reproduce exactly what you say. Previously I had observed that the problem never happens in a private window (Ctrl+Shift+N), but maybe it was just any new window. The one thing I can add is that if the typed address is going to fail, it appears grayed out / faded out; if it's going to work, it is the normal darker color. It's good to know I'm not alone! It's hard to imagine what could have been done to create this problem; but then I'm not a professional programmer.

The problem is still relevant. It is easy to reproduce - it is enough to change the "Aero" theme of Win 7 to the basic theme (or vice versa) while the browser is running.
Appeared in Opera 78.0.4093.112, actual for Opera Beta 79 and Opera Dev 80. There is no this bug in Opera 77.0.4054.90. -

The [Solved] in the name of this topic needs to be removed since this is still happening. Using vers.78.0.4093.184 and it`s happening all the time.

@johnd78 , I'm sorry to say that changing the Aero theme in Win7 does not work for me.

@davidr In my case, changing the Aero theme is a way to reproduce the problem immediately. This does not solve the problem, it only reproduces it.
As an example: run Opera 78.0.4093.184, address bar works fine. Change Win 7 "Aero" theme to Basic, Opera address bar in the current window stops working. Changing back Win 7 theme doesn't solve problem, nothing helps, only restarting Opera. -

For me, since I never experience Opera without this problem anymore, I've never experimented with reproducing it! (I have numerous windows and tabs open, and even rebooting the computer soon leaves me with this problem.)

I have this issue too. I tried a lot of settings, but nothing changed. I have disabled all extensions, but nothing changed. I wrote to the bug report, but nothing happend.
Under such circumstances I would change the browser. But unfortunately I have so much login data and form data saved in Opera and all the histories. To rebuild that in another browser costs me hours. And I use the VPN a lot.
The hope, the other day the problem will be fixed, lets me stay with Opera, at this point. But that's driving me crazy, since I use the browser the whole day for business applications. -

Currently this bug is not fixed in Opera 79.0.4143.22 Stable, Opera 79.0.4143.19 Beta, Opera 81.0.4175.0 developer. Opera 77.0.4054.90 Stable is the latest version, which does not have this problem.
I have seen complaints about this problem in Opera not only on this forum, but also on other sources on the Internet. -

I have downgraded to Opera 77.0.4054.90 https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/77.0.4054.90/win/
I have downgraded to this version. But you have to disable the automatic download/update. This worked for me https://forums.opera.com/topic/36333/solved-how-to-turn-off-auto-update

Colleagues, the developers in the blog ask for a way to reproduce this bug and specify your system. Please write there too.

Thanks. I just updated to v. 79.0.4143.22. So far I haven't been able to make the problem happen. Of course, the update caused Opera to restart. I'll try again after it's been running for awhile, and if the problem occurs I'll post it on the blog.
