I find it unbearable to always have an Amazon icon and not be able to delete it.

        hi
an amazon icon is pinned with the other add-on icons although it is not listed in my add-on list. A right click on this icon allows only to unpin it, but i don't know if amazon is still working
So, i have the feeling that some hidden (no installation traces) and mysterious (i don't have installed it, impossible! and there is so long since i have operated with amazon) add-ons may work quieltly ('unpin' is proposed instead of 'desactivate', 'close' nor 'uninstall', and i don't know if this add-on will come back or not) without my consent. It looks as a big fail!
        Please would ou fix it?
        thx

          Like many others...

...I have recently noticed an Amazon icon in my extensions area, on the right side of my address bar (Opera 76 / Windows 10). I did not install it. I can unpin it, but I cannot remove it like I could any other extension. It does not appear in my list of extensions via Menu → Extensions.

This is extremely concerning. If this is indeed a forcibly-installed, non-removable copy of the official Amazon for Opera extension, it presumably has the same permissions, including:

          • This extension can access your data on all websites.
          • This extension can access your data on some websites.
          • This extension will manage your extensions.
          • This extension can create rich notifications and display them to you in the system tray.
          • This extension can access your tabs and browsing activity.

In other words, either Opera has just handed all of my behavior data, as well as essentially full control over my browser over to Amazon without my permission, or this isn't actually an extension.

The ambiguity is unacceptable. We need a developer response. Is this icon an indication that the extension is, indeed, installed? If not, what exactly is it - what does it do, what controls do Opera users have over its behavior, etc.

I won't speak for others, but I personally am about to make the time-consuming switch to another browser (probably Firefox) if this isn't cleared up. I jumped to Opera from Chrome out of a concern for sharing my data thoughtlessly with Google. Sharing my data with Amazon against my will is no better. Hopefully that's not what's happening here, but we deserve clear and honest information.
