Re: Vpn slows down internet speed too much
Hello.
VPN speed has dramatically dropped recently. My connection allows 500Mbps and getting more than 5Mbps has been a challenge ans this change is recent. No more than 4 or 5 days. I understand that using a VPN affects my connection speed but this drop is recent and 5Mbps is nowhere acceptable. Surely this must be a problem. Before this change I don´nt recall what speed provided the VPN but It was much faster because I've noticed that browsing became a lot (a lot!) slower.Did anyone experienced the same change?

@pedrorf I have the same experience. What is happening? It used to have a very reasonable performance.
Anybody has figure this out or gotten help?

VPN slowing down the internet performance by 96% (from 20.61 m
Mbps to 0.81 Mbps). This started only a few weeks ago. Is anybody else experiencing a drop in performance this dramatic? Any advise for its resolution?This is what I am using:

Follow up from my previous post.
There is a reddit thread that mentions Opera sold the vpn (https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/comments/7neb3f/opera_vpn_is_too_slow/)
I realize the VPN is free, but as someone else mentioned, this is way too slow.
Going to make my own or pay for one (Yes, if I build my own, it'll cost me).
Like Opera, but Opera be a bit more transparent on this.

The post you referred to is 2 years old. Opera VPN was giving me 6 to 7 Mbps for a year until it stopped recently. Could it be that somebody pull the plug now to force people to buy a private service? I have trusted the Opera group for a long time. What to do now is the question?

That will teach me to look at the date! My apologies.
As for what we can do? Report to Opera and see what they do.
It is quite curious that it suddenly dropped its throughput to 1Mbps up and down (maybe a month ago? 6 weeks?).
It is free, maybe I’ll look at paying? There are some good articles about how to build your own and I might go that route. Not sure.
If I final an actual solution, I’ll post it here.
