I can now ascertain the problem of the persistent popup with clicking on torrent magnet links was introduced with O70. I installed Opera beta 68 and this does not happen in it. I also verified same thing occurs in the newest Chrome 84.0.4147.105 and does not happen in IE11. I am then going to assume this issue was introduced in Google Chrome and was used also in Opera 70. Is there a way around this??

Also, once Opera Beta 68 updated itself to Opera Beta 70, the problem once again reared its head.

Looking for direction here. That this issue presents itself with only the newest Opera 70 tells me it is not a Windows 7 problem

Opera 70.0.3728.71 with Windows 10. Not problems at all with magnet links.

@diezi I am now finding out that my problem may be site dependent, because using other torrent sites with magnet links, seems like they work ok. Just my luck I picked a site with this problem

This also happens to me, also since Opera 70.0.3728.71 installed. It's a minor annoyance but it would be nice if it wasn't there.

Actually just solved it myself by going into QBittorrent options, deselecting association with Magnet links, save and exit, then reopen QBittorrent options, and reselecting association with Magnet links.

Yes same here it is really annoying me as it never did this before and they should have fixed it by now as I wrote and told them about it weeks ago!

Re: Opening Magnet Files Using Opera (Problem)

The problem still persists for me. I click on a magnet, the popup appears asking to launch BitTorrent, I check the "always open magnet: links" box, next time I do it, the popup appears again.
It is not site-dependent (it happens by clicking on magnet links from a variety of websites) and deselecting and reselecting the association from BitTorrent doesn't work.
                  I'm using Opera 71.0.3770.271 and Windows 10 Pro 64 bit v. 1909.

Chromium removed the protocol "Always open" option, but Opera hasn't removed it from its dialogs yet. Just ignore it and pretend it's not there.

@burnout426 As far as I know, now the "always open magnet: links" option works only on HTTPS sites and this setting is remembered separately for each HTTPS site.

ok thanks for the replies. It's a shame that it can't be how it used to be rather than having to click Allow for every magnet link!

@johnd78 Thanks. I'll double check. Just commented on https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/comments/iv8xr3/bug_7103770148_always_open_protocol_links/ to see if going to the https version of the site helps a user.

@john78 I double checked on you are correct. Thanks again for the correction.

Any fix for this? Would love to avoid clicking "Allow" each time. Or do I just rollback to a previous version of Opera?

                              don't hesitate.
