@leocg Thank you for the reply. Strangely enough, I have that option set to Deny and yet videos start automatically in many websites.
I'm using Opera 55.2.2719.50740 on a Redmi Note 5 phone with Android 9 and MIUI 11.0.3.

There is actually no such option in Opera 59.1.2xxx version.
Many of the news site autoplay videos, even when they aren't visible (below/above on the site, "hidden" in the sides, etc.)
This need to be fixed.
I have to start using other browsers now no matter how much I love Opera's loading times but a lot of ads, and popups, and autoplaying videos eating up my data limits.
Other browsers like chrome, free as locker browser is fine though they do have such an option and works. So Opera need to step up now, it's 2020now, why is this a missing feature. -

Has this issue been fixed? I can't find any option to disable auto play of videos. I did get an extension to disable HTML5. It did not help.

@fred-g Sadly not.
In fact my other favorite browser free adblock browser lost this feature too recently, I have no clue why.
None of the adroid browsers got this feature. I suspect due to using the same chomium as base, and they are lazy to implement the function? Can't see other reasons except that they want us to see scumy ad videos starting up constantly, even if we don't watch it. -

@leocg said in How to stop video autoplay?:
@ebulerdo-0 There is a setting for it. Check in Site Settings > Media
And this guy also full of bs.
This was never an option in mobile browsers. Except Free ADBlock Browser, but they've removed from there also now. -

@h0pe That was an option when the reply was posted.
Does that mean they removed it on purpose then?
Because then... why?!! -

"No mobile browser" is not correct; Firefox 1.68 definitely has it; I don't use the current version, but I just installed the Nightly, and it still has "stop autoplay" in Settings.
