Hello,
You need to download the Opera installer. After downloading launch it, and install it to your existing place and then choose "upgrade."
It will start working. I hope it will solve your problem. -

Good Morning.
I've been having this problem for a while.
After using Opera several times during the day, it always happens that it just doesn't open when I click the icon.
It only works when the task manager closes or the PC is restarted.I have already tried compatibility mode and reinstalled it. Did not work.
If anyone has a solution, thank you.

@snakesloan18, open up the Windows task manager. Do you see any Opera processes there? If so, end task on them and then trying opening Opera.

I had this problem few times, but on Developer version because I don't use the latest Stable. I can't reproduce it so I didn't report it.
Opera process (a single entry) is visible in Win Task Manages in this case and after 'end task' Opera opens as usually. -

@naheed I’ve tried deleting everything and downloading and going through the processes of upgrading multiple times. But I’ll take a look at it again.

I probably should have said that in this post but i did have the tasks manager up, and it would show nothing happening with Opera GX even while it was playing the start up animation. Even tho the tasks manager is up it doesn’t show Opera starting even tho I can see it visually start the animation then pop up the window for Opera GX For half a second before crashing. -

Opera worked perfectly last night. This morning it wouldn't start! By not starting I mean not responding to clicks on the shortcuts, clicks on the start menu, clicks on the "launcher.exe" in the program file a or click on opera application withing the subfolder.
I downloaded and reinstalled Opera. It still won't run from the shortcuts or the start menu, but it did start by running "launcher.exe" from within the program files.
Anyone have any thoughts on this. BTW, there are two other programs I use regularly that require the same approach to get them to run. Windows problem??
Windows 10 Version 19042.610 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.31.0
Sorry, I can't find the version number on opera but it is whatever downloaded at 1130 this morning, Nov 7, 2020. -
