Spellchecker doesn't work everywhere (eg. Ebay forums).

I love Opera's spellchecker, but it doesn't seem to work everywhere, for example in Ebay forums it doesn't detect any misspelt words. But it works in this forum. What's wrong?

As your Spellchecker doesn't work everywhere, you may try installing the offline version without uninstalling the current one. Check if it solves your problem as I have seen this solution somewhere on the forum.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean a seperate standalone spellchecker plugin? Where do I get it?

@hucker Spellcheckers of other browsers work? Opera uses Chromium's spell checker.
I've only ever used the built in one. So can I install one from elsewhere? Which one is recommended? Do I need to turn off Opera's one first?

@hucker No, you can't install a different one as far as I know. Unless, maybe, by using an extension.
I'm asking if you have checked the site with other browsers, specially Chromium based ones.
I just tried this forum (as in this very reply) on Opera, Chrome, and Edge. I also tried the Ebay forum on Opera, Chrome, and Edge. The Ebay forum didn't allow spellchecking on any browser, and this forum did on all three. Is there something in a forum which would prohibit spellchecking? I shall ask the same question in Ebay.

@hucker I don't know.
I've submitted a bug report, DNAWIZ-110886

@hucker Id it doesn't work on any browser, it seems more of a site issue. Did you report to Ebay so they can fix it?
I mentioned it on the Ebay forums, but I don't think there's a way to contact their tech support. I've tried for other reasons before, but just ended up with the front line people who can't even understand the question.
And I deny it's just a site issue. A browser's spellchecker should check ALL places you can type, unless perhaps it's a password box.

@hucker Unless, as you suggested, the site can somehow block it. Or maybe a site bug as some posts in Ebay community say.

I don't understand how a site can "force" a browser not to spellcheck. The browser should just run it anyway. What are Ebay going to do, sue Opera for having people send better quality posts?

@hucker If the site blocks the spell checker, there is nothing a browser can do.
What utter nonsense. The site cannot stop a browser from checking the spelling. What I'm typing is on MY computer, and not somehow owned by Ebay.

@hucker According to those posts, Ebay seems to force the use of their own spell checker.
Which is inferior. I can't add new words (it doesn't even know "Ebay"!), and even if I could they'd only be remembered for that particular forum.
The browser should ignore the request and just run the spellchecker!
I think I'll put a moaning signature on my Ebay account, except their forum server has crashed. Brilliant.

I know this Forum topic is a bit old, but I didn't want to start a new one and clutter the Forum, since this post, that is quite similar, exists.
For quite some time I have also noticed, that spellcheck has stopped working and the few times, it detects an error, the suggestions are very irrelevant to the world I have written wrong. The site that this problem is happening for me and bothers me the most, is on the "Facebook messenger" and other similar message type applications, but generally it doesn't seem to work anywhere on the browser. (except from what I see here, while I am typing , but it does so only in English, not the other languages I have installed, with Spellcheck "all your languages", checked.
And It doesn't seem to work more so, on my native language than English.
The same thing happens on Chrome but Firefox is ok.And I cannot help to wonder, is it a bug that exists within those browsers, that both use "Chromium"?
Is it maybe and particularly with "FB messenger", a clash with the new Regulations in Europe, as it started happening a little after FB and other Companies stated that they would drop some features, due to new Law Restrictions?
As much as I searched I didn't find something revealing or that ties in, with this problem.
Does someone here have any input?
Thank you. -
