Android 10:
Settings -> Apps and notifications -> Advanced -> Default apps -> Assist appYesterday, I could install Opera there as an assistant.
Longpress on Android Home button opens Opera new tab with focus on search bar. From every screen of smartphone.
Today, this great feature is gone.Is it about policy with Google? It's very useful and important thing.

You're right. I have been waiting for an update to android 10, because on android 9 this function has disappeared for a very long time. -

Where else can I ask this question?
Many of those here use Opera as the most important application on their phone instead of Google. Is it really not so important for developers?

Most likely. Thank you all for sharing your experience! It seems, it has become clearer that the question is difficult and far from being resolved. -

Any update on this ?
Is there a developer working on it !?
Is there even a developer seeing this forum ?Opera 58.2 is out, but I'm forced to use 57.2 because of this.

@lucasbs I asked this question here β because I donβt know where else to write.

"We will pass on your suggestion to our developers team."
So wait&see@lucasbs , please, can you explain, how do you use (install) previous versions?

@lexusxp You may download older versions of Opera over the internet. There are infinite sites.
Versions above 57.2 don't have the Assist function. But maybe it's my phone.
Make sure you backup the browser data (bookmarks, history, open tabs), either through opera's account, or by Titantium Backup (root)

Any update on this ?
Did opera at least acknowledge the existence of this bug !?

@lucasbs Nothing yet. When the Opera update comes out, if something changes, I will try not to forget to write here

@lexusxp hm... So, while we are waiting for the results, Iβll probably use this kind of crutch
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devhomc.search (found this solution on Reddit)
It's much better then nothing and makes 99% of what needed:
Home button long tap -> search bar with focus on keyboard -> search results in OperaThank you all, nice forum, but question is not closed, of course.
2057 year. Resurrected robotic dinosaurs attacked the last Tesla's colony on Mars, but I still can't press home button to use Opera. -
